Three won't let me change from Essential to Advance plan
I'm going to the USA this weekend and wanted to upgrade my plan from Essential to the Advance so I could get the free roaming. Turns out that they won't let me do this right not as my billing date is 4th November and can't do it until then.
Is there anything I can do so I can get on the Advance plan by this weekend?
They said they don't do the Data passports anymore either.
Be very grateful if anyone has any ideas.

If their system will only allow plan changes to process on the billing date, then no, there is nothing that can be done.
But I thought all Three plans had free roaming now? I just get a free payg Three sim each time I go to the US and top up £150 -
OP, your best bet is to stick with the PAYG SIM. You left it until the last possible minute to swop tariffs, most networks would have issues setting things up in 72 hrs.0

What's happened to the data passports? Apparently not available for sale at the moment but Three are supposed to be working on the issue?0

I don't know, I've never worked for Three, only they can answer that. Try tweeting them?0

Data passport started working today!
Still think it's a bit annoying having to manually activate it daily. If you somehow forget but leave your roaming on you could end up with a huge bill. Plus the fact you have to activate it whilst not on WiFi so could incur charges doing it.
Guess I've learnt my lesson to check my plan well in advance of traveling.0 -
Sadly, most of learn our lessons the hard (or expensive) way. Enjoy your trip!0

I hope you guys can help.
I am on a legacy pay monthly tariff with Three for past 15 years and pay £6 for 500 minutes and texts and unlimited data.
Upon asking them about roaming in EU (Cyprus), they tell me that my plan doesnt allow GoRoam in EU and I will be charged, whereas the website says its available to all.
I know some people who have recently purchased AYCE sim only deals are allowed goRoam on their plan. And they are also paying between £6 and and £8 for the privilege.
Are they being illegal with me in contravention of EU rules? Some reps in their overseas call centres affirm I am allowed but the CEO office says n (unless I change my plan and basically pay extra).0 -
I would say yes, they are contravening the EU 'Roam like at Home' regulations if they don't provide the same service throughout Europe that you have in the UK, which applies to all networks.wisedonkey wrote: »Are they being illegal with me in contravention of EU rules?
But this is not the same as Three's own 'Go Roam' service which covers Europe and many other countries - they don't have to give you that. Perhaps there is some confusion.
Anyway if you insist on your rights under the EU regs, forcing them to provide it, I think you will soon find that they force you off your nice legacy tariff somehow.Evolution, not revolution0 -

That depends, if the tariff offers NO roaming at all, then it isn’t a contravention to not offer EU roaming use, networks are allowed to offer home service only in the EU Regs, but it has to be absolutely no roaming offered to be compliant.====0 -
True, but it sounds like roaming is available with charges. That depends, if the tariff offers NO roaming at all, then it isn’t a contravention to not offer EU roaming use, networks are allowed to offer home service only in the EU Regs, but it has to be absolutely no roaming offered to be compliant.Evolution, not revolution0
