Zanussi Freezer drawers breaking up in my hand

Has anyone had the same experience? I have a Zanussi ZRB32212WA fridge freezer. The FF itself is okay, but the freezer part plastic drawers are all breaking, bits literally coming away in my hand. It just seems like they have got brittle with cold or age - its about 4 years old so out of warranty. To replace them with spares, the cheapest I can find is about 80 quid for the 3 drawers. It wasn't a cheap machine. Is this a common fault? Everything is held together with parcel tape at the moment, which is actually doing okay with the smaller cracks , but is no fix for the chunks that coming off now. Thank you

I have a similar problem with the drawers in a my (old) Zanussi fridge - I bought some white duct tape and have secured the cracks and splits using that - has worked perfectly for around 3 years!!
I bought £1 boxes from £land for my freezer and they've done the job nicely for about 5 years!
I keep threatening to re-do my kitchen and the FF will be part of that refurb0 -
Great idea.Thank you so much. Just a bit disgusted I bpught the ff because it had a 9/10 rating . But there really should be a longevity rating on thse things as well given the cost to the environment of "disposable" domestic products0

White plastic drawers ? The majority with those white drawers seem to suffer the same. A definite tick box on my freezer shopping list is no white drawers.0

These drawers are clear plastic with a pattern. And by longevity I suppose that be like the long term test that car magazines do , reporting after 50,000 miles etc. The 9/10 is the revoo rating , but most of them them on reflection were from new owners.0

It's not just Zanussi (and so probably AEG, Electrolux & others owned by the Swedish Electrolux AB) but I had this with my Beko too.
Great isn't it; a freezer where the plastic used cannot withstand prolonged freezing.
I was going to replace it but first it's difficult finding upright freezers suitable for use in an unheated area like my garage, and second they all look to be much the same inside any way.0 -
I don't know if it's a freeze-intolerant issue, or simply a combination of flimsy plastic + stacked heavy drawers + clumsy user (i.e., not properly supporting the drawer when it's taken out).
My fridge freezer is now 12 years old and I have never broken a freezer drawer. However, there are several chips and cracks in the corner of the freezer drawers caused by someone I used to pay to do some cleaning. She also broke the vacuum cleaner attachment and the shower head.(Nearly) dunroving0 -
I think I'm quite safe in saying that certainly in our case it's an intolerance in the plastics used and not user-attributable.
It had never been a problem before this purchase and we have used similar appliances for over 30 years.
IMHO it's a quality issue, just like the poor handle design on our now-revised model of freezer which necessitated a replacement twice within the guarantee period which and was acknowledged to be a manufacturing/design issue.0 -
had exactly the same with this freezer. first one snapped after about a month, zanussi did replace it but gradually they have all broken. you can buy replacements but they are a silly price
in the end we got rid of the drawers and just use the shelves and in actual fact we have a lot more room without the drawersWhen you know better you do better0
