  • Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.

Its a better morning here, it was cloudy and rather windy all day yesterday.

Out to friends this afternoon for a cup of tea and a cake. They are off on their travels next week to Doncacster.

OH is doing ok, managing to see to himself in the mornings, he is also doing about half an hour in the garden each day.

Bag finished, memo to self, not to use Saderson curtain fabric again. It was not easy to sew.

Want to cut out one more bag this morning then will see what else I might need to make

Nelski... I hope you hear from Holly, it is strange she has not contacted you, fingers crossed she is ok.

TA thoughts very much with you and your family just now as you prepare for Bobs service.

Smoked haddock and poached egg for supper tonight.

    Morning all
Just a quick pop in as we have a busy day ahead. Off to Dad's in a minute to say Happy Birthday and take his hamper up. Then back to put our glad rags on, as Mr Fix It has booked us a table for lunch for our Anniversary. (Another decade passed..... They are going faster than Lewis Hamilton .)
After lunch we have to go to other nan's to collect DGD as she is off school with a temperature and headache. Phew ! DD will arrive at some time later today, I hope :D.

Sorry haven't had time to read this morning but I hope everyone is well, especially Holly, -taff and Poppy.
    Take care all
    nan xx

Good morning, everybody :hello: - very dull and depressing start to the day here this morning, but at least that wind died down overnight and the pavements are dry outside, so no rain overnight either :T.

No 'Nathan sitting' for me this week - DD is on half-term and has taken Nathan and his sister to DisneyParis for a couple of days, so I've been able to have a slow start to my day :j.

Thanks for starting us all off today, nmlc - just keep up the 'good work' on the diet, it WILL pay off eventually :D.
Nelski - ouch on the soap powder incident . Hope all's well with Holly - please let her know that we're all thinking of her :). Thinking of you with your DM today ((((hugs)))). My sisters, brother and I often sit and reminisce about 'Mum' - and her 'ingratitude/praise of others' is usually quite high on the agenda ;). She never praised 'to your face', but would 'praise you to others' without you knowing - possibly manipulation of some kind, But we DID become aware of it before she died, and would ring each other to say 'well done, you - mum said how good you've been!'
redruby - hope work goes well today :). Any news from the garage guys?
    camelot - have a good day :)
tru - best of luck with the composting. I have a 'mortal fear' of worms ...................... which has always put me off (closes eyes very tight).
bellabella - poor you with mum and Christmas Cards ;). They'd try the patience of a saint, wouldn't they :undecided. All part of the 'Christmas Merrygoround'!
maddiemay - Good luck with the task of pets/fireworks and enjoy your Knit&Natter today :j.
LaineyT - hope all's well at the stables :).
silver-oldie - wd on your baking yesterday and enjoy your casserole later .
Speky - regarding TGFW- 'youse a gent, sir' ;)! 'Rain coming in from the Campsies' - in Manchester, you'll be able to watch it coming in from 'The Peak District' and 'The Pennines' instead :rotfl:!
csarina - wd to your OH on 'getting on with his recovery' like he's doing - good to see that he's not just letting you do everything for him, instead of the carers :T. Enjoy your bag-making :).
nannywindows - Hope your Dad appreciates his Birthday Hamper. Have a lovely anniversary meal with Mr Fix-It :D.

Thinking about all those who aren't going through health issues or dealing with loved ones who're not well - ((((HUGS)))) to you all.

Having a 'lazy day' today (after two very busy ones in the Charity Shop). Need some milk, so OH can bring that in with him.

Think it's about time I did some housework .

Have a good day, everybody - luv Ollie xx
  • Morning all, just a quick flyby post as I need to go to the post office in a minute.

Lovely day here, the weatherman said it would be dank and dull so didn't do the washing, I never learn. That weatherman is not trustworthy.

Hoping that Holly is doing reasonably well, she could be feeling very tired after surgery, I know that a GA tends to wipe me out for a week and makes me very vomity too.

Also thinking of TA, Captain H'S, taff, Poppy and anyone else unwell or worried.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

Had a sort of lie in, dozed about till half eight then did the shower/dress/breakfast run...Breakfast today was a sinful HM rice pudding [too much rice, I never learn] with cream and salted caramel ice cream. I thought, !!!!!! eating stuff that tastes horrible, I'll put a bit of that down my neck, and it was lovely. Not gritty afterwars either which was the best bit.
Hopsitla this afternoon for picc clean, folowed by pick up of items from ebay and serviced sewing machine. Followed by doing nothing probably...OH can have fish and chips for supper, I'll probably have a chip butty with sauce.. FIngers are still painful, hot ater makes them worse, so I suppose, I have a legitimate excuse for not doing any washing up at all...This logic thing is brilliant isn't it? :)

Sorry aout your hand Nelski, damn that packaging fighting back, hope shopping is painless :) Hope your tooth is ok for your meal out nanny. Tru, that's why I don't use the daleks, I just got three pallets as the sides and back and put everything in the middle. I might become slightly more posh and make two bins next year, but I have got a builders bag I put the fallings from the fir tree in that I have plans for this year. It;s just a quesion of clearing the front garden to move the ready compost to...Camelot, puppies = fun...Hope you're OK Jackie, and the colds have gone for those with the lurgy. Happy Lazy Day OB :)
Happy Wednesday for those that are, commiserations and hot toddys for those who aren't...

Thanks, Nelski, I'm glad Holly's getting the support she needs.

TA, good to hear from you, the funeral sounds as if it will be a real solace to you all. I have been to funerals which have been very impersonal and somehow empty, input from families makes a real difference.

Poppy, I hope you are still feeling a bit better and that your funeral went as well as it could.

Not a lot happening here, as per usual. I have cleaned and sorted a couple of kitchen cupboards and am nearing the end of the blocks for the star quilt I am making.

It's very sunny again so we might go out for a walk, we had a stroll yesterday and it was lovely.

Oh that's good Nelski, glad you've heard from HH. Despite her continuing difficulties, you'll be glad she's been in touch and being looked after.:A

Happy Anniversary to Mr & Mrs Nannywindows! I hope you have a lovely day.

Silver Oldie, your casserole sounds good, just right for autumn days.

tru, I never had success with the dalek style composters. My best was made from three old pallets, open at the front.

It's notable how many peeps on here have parents who aren't easily pleased! Thinking of you and the Christmas card hunt, bella ;).. I hope as I age that I remember I have much to be grateful for and that I remember to let the minor irritations of life stay minor - and unvoiced!

I'm up and dressed, first time since Saturday, fever has gone and throat sore but better than it was. :j Time to catch up with the piles of stuff I couldn't do when I was sweating it out! Dishes, for starters. The only time I wish I could conjure up a domestic genie is when I'm not well enough to do them!

Sorry to read about your fall, JackieO and the poorly hand, Nelski. :( The outing with your DGS sounds fun, JackieO.

I made a decision when I was stewing in my bed, and that is to do something about my decrease in hearing. So tomorrow I'm going to see an audiologist to see if my ears need hoovered out, then we'll discuss some hearing hardware. I've been severely deaf since birth but lately the world has got too quiet, and my ears are generating tinnitus.

I've decided to self fund because my local NHS audiology service has huge waiting lists, and people are expected to get their waxy ears dealt with privately anyway. I have a list of things I would like which are fairly state of the art and unlikely to be NHS funded in any case. So we'll see what the options are for my particular situation and take it from there. I've made do for quite a while, but there's recent research evidence that lack of auditory stimulation leads to increased risk of cognitive decline  - that's not an option!

Wishing you the best afternoon and evening possible. xxx

Thanks for the update on HollyHarvey, Nelski - good to know that she's getting the support that she needs and quite understable that she's not feeling 'as good as she could be', in view of her other problems. But, she's still in the hospital and recovering - and that's the main thing :T!

Freezing cold here today. I noticed, a few days ago, how bad the 'sticky numbers' on my wheelie bins had become - and finally remembered to get some from Wilko's - £1 per number :( - should really have remembered to get them on-line :o .............. so, two numbers per bin for 3 bins = £6  . Took mop&bucket out earlier with boiling water and cleaning stuff to clean the bin lids - but decided to 'do the front door' first while the water was still clean ;). Bins all now sparkley clean (at least on the outsides ;)) and will pop back out later to put the new numbers on them. Don't want them to go MIA when the bin men come a-calling on Monday ;).

Just had Mushrooms on Toast sprinkled with Garlic Powder and Black Pepper for extra flavour - very nice too .
