O/S Daily Wednesday 24th October 2018

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Still dark, dry underfoot but was quite blustery last night, that seems to have died off a bit, cooler too.

DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly as he's going for a run this morning.

Dinner last night was fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg, tonight I'll be cooking a chicken, I'll do either mash and veg or savoury rice with it.

Work yesterday was slow to start but then became quite busy, today I'm doing some of the day doing another job, so hoping that will be reasonably busy. I wasn't working Saturday but am now due to sickness but I'm off Monday to attend a funeral.

Went to fat club last night and somehow stayed the same - I was very lucky to do that as the last week I've been eating ice cream. I'll be much stricter this week and get myself sorted this week as I'd like to get close to target as I possibly can before Xmas.

Keep safe and well x

    Morning :)

Really good sleep last night ...first for a long time :j So pleased as I have a mad busy week now.

Sorry no word from Holly for a few days now its really worrying :(

Course went well yesterday and I managed to finish them a lot earlier so even though it was a long 20 miles back at least I got home for food and Emmerdale :D

So work mostly done for a week now bar a bit of invoicing and an 8.30 conference call this morning. Got to take mum shopping today but have said I cant do lunch as I literally have so much house work to do. Could so have done without it and vainly hoped she may have asked onceayear.com brother if he could bother to come over but course not. Anyway fingers crossed the bananas are less interesting today.

Started this morning with a small disaster trying to open a huge tub of washing powder ended up with a load on the floor and a nasty cut on my hand...cheers Costco needed more to do today anyway :p

Had one of my chicken kievs last night with chips and peas. Today will possibly be rinse and repeat as I really enjoyed it :)

Anyway I have some piles of white powder to sort out now so will love and leave you :)

Would that be the large bucket of their own washing powder Nelski? It's really difficult to open, thankfully the bucket lasts me about a year so don't have to do it very often! Hope your hand heals quickly.
Hope you're OK JackieO and those DGSs are looking after you.
Hugs to you TA, your family are a great support to you.
    How's CHS HH?

Not much happening here but I did go visit a poorly work colleague yesterday who has the most adorable little terrier pup so had good fun trying to wear him out, funniest bit was when the cat was winding him up!

Washing up to date and Bake Off watched last night, slept quite well.

Hope you all have a good day, take care. XX

    Morning hello.gif

TravellingAbuela It's nice to hear from you x I hope all goes well on friday, I'll be thinking of you xx

Thanks for all your help with doggy nerves xx The Adaptil was plugged in at 4pm yesterday so it's not doing it's job yet. It's supposed to take up to two weeks for fireworks but some reviews say they've noticed a difference within 1-2 days so here's hoping :DOlliebeak Scampi wasn't too bad with fireworks but last year he hated them and is the same this year. Lots of strokes and cheery chat was enough to keep him relaxed, but not now! maddiemay I bought from Pets At Home because I needed it IMMEDIATELY lol, but it's very expensive in there and if I'd planned better I'd have bought online, it's much cheaper. RosyRed I noticed tablets while I was searching online, I decided against them because it's difficult to get him to swallow them – you should the faff we have with worming tablets, lol. I also bought some Calm & Relaxed biscuits – OMG redruby these are brilliant! Scampi still barked at couple of loud noises last night (I'd tell you what the noises were, but that'll identify exactly where I live, so I can't!) but not in his usual manic way, when I called his name he stopped and looked at me, I said come here and he trotted over. There were no fireworks last night, that'll be the ultimate test, lol. I'm also trying the body wrap with my old scarf, thank you bellabella, he struggles a bit with things like this because it makes him trapped. But turning it into a game (it worked with his coat and harness) might see him accept and like it.

It was cold yesterday. I was in and out of the garden all day, between two walks, lunch, the shopping being delivered and a trip to Pets At Home. I raked a bit then came in to make coffee, swept....coffee....sorted rubbish....coffee :D I didn't warm up again properly til I had a shower.

Composting has become a bit of an obsession for me :D I have loads of chopped up plants and nowhere to put them. I think I need to empty out the compost bins, give them a good mix, remove anything that isn't breaking down and start again. I'm not keen on these daleks, they don't let enough air in, the contents are difficult to turn over and the hole in the bottom isn't big enough to dig the compost out. I'm going to look around for something better.

I might stay indoors this afternoon, my hip stiffened up in the cold yesterday. The muscle is still feeling a bit tight this morning so I'll do some extra stretches and make sure I keep warm. I need to do some crochet anyway :D

Dolly is still in bed so i am having a quiet cuppa before she arises to dance about before we go for a walk it seems chilly this morning so i will probably put some gloves and a hat on .
I didn't pop on yesterday as i took mum to Lakeside for some xmas shopping and to get the last of her cards which as is every year a pain as they are never right too childish too religious and just not right suggested we look somewhere else other than M7S but she refused as she always gets them in there:o
TA and family thinking of you all
HH hope CHS is on the mend
Speky glad your Gran is well on the mend
Hugs and extra strength to all the poor lies and those who are looking after poorlies and cantankerous ones x

Good morning, dry but cold looking here. Sending hugs to all that need them. TA will be thinking of you on Friday, Hester I hope that CHS is making good progress, Nelski ouch to your cut hand, I hope that it heals soon. Best wishes to dear Holly.

Yesterday, having some time to myself to potter I made a batch of mincemeat from a MB recipe and 5.1/2 lbs marmalade from a Mamade tin, hopefully they will keep OH happy for a while:D

Tru the refill for the Adaptil came yesterday, will get it plugged in shortly, those biscuits sound good, might try those for the furry one's fly phobia, she it terrified of them in the house, but virtually ignores them outside, I hate seeing her in such a state:( I splashed out a couple of years ago and bought her one of those eye watering expensive thunder jackets, trouble is my highly intelligent Border Collie associates the coat with fireworks and starts to shake as soon as we put it on her:eek: I have 4 of those daleks, not a fan either, not helped by OH just dumping vast quantities of lawn mowings in without mixing them up or adding shredded paper etc or accelerator. I intend to investigate hot composter, but they are awfully expensive.

Knit N Natter today and stuff to drop at CS on the way, so better start my chores for the morning. Have a good day all.

Ouch on your hand Nelski but glad it’s not just me that writes dates on various packages!
Hope JackieO is recuperating well with the loving care of her family.
Thinking of Holly TA and all those poorly or struggling at the moment.

    Good morning all

Thank you for starting us off nmlc

Gentle hugs to all who want/ need them.

Chilly this morning but bright and sunny.

Made a cake yesterday and it turned out lovely, if I do say myself. Casserole in the sc for today.

Hope you all have a good day
If you walk at night no-one will see you cry.
  • Morning everyone,

    From yesterday;
silver-oldie - Ah, yes. You can't beat a hot chocolate with skooshy cream and marshmallows!
Organza - My last day is the 9th November. As chance would have it, TGFW is off that week too, which I'm not sure is a good thing or a bad thing.
Olliebeak - You may well be right and we may not have liked each other the same amount. Nonetheless, I'll still treat her right and I'd never want to play with her feelings.

It's still awfully dark in Glasgow. Looks like rain coming in over the Campsies.

Last night I darted home quickly as my new tenants/friends were coming over to take measurements. They seem really excited by it and she is buying nice furniture which gives me peace of mind that they'll take care of it. After they'd gone, I made dinner, watched the bake off and went to bed.

Been to the gym this morning and a busy day of work ahead. Tonight, I've a game of football in the diary but nothing else, so I should hopefully get to chill for a bit.

Need to phone my dentist here in Scotland and cancel my up and coming appointment given my move to Manchester. I'll find a GP/dentist/optician when I'm down there and settled.

redruby - do you do themed menus in the build up events like Haloween?
