Has anyone had any problems before with Vodafone adding in Mobile Insurance even when I specifically said I did not want it as I have insurance through my Bank Account.
Partly my own fault, but they did 3 months free insurance with the upgrade then "unless you cancel it yourself" they roll it on.
When I applied I specifically said I did not want this and the person on the end of the phone said they would not include it. 6 Months on and they have added it on and been taking the money. When questioned they would not repay the money (although as a "courtesy" they cancelled the insurance) we are still in a debate about this now.
Thanks.

Hi,
Sorry you're still in dispute with this. If you were to e-mail us here in the forum team, we'll be able to help with this and speed it up for a resolution.
Normally insurance is automatically added when it's free for 3 months and we then need 30 days notice to cancel it. If after the 3 months free period, this is then charged you would need to pay for the insurance until it's cancelled.
If you send us an e-mail using our Vodafone Online Contact us form here including the code FIT135 somewhere in the body of your e-mail, we'll pick this up and get back to you. Looking forward to helping you with this very soon.

Hi, OP hope you don't mind but I too have a question about vodafones mobile insurance. I have the 6.95 insurance on my phone bill but just over a month ago I had a phonecall on mobile from "vodafone" saying about mobile insurance. They took a payment of just over £45.00 from my debit card (Yes I know I was stupid - should not agree to things over phone), but they said paperwork would follow and I could cancel by phoning 191. Surprise surprise no paperwork has followed - can I do anything about getting my money back is it worth just phoning 191. Had forgotten about this until I was going through bank statements last night. Has anyone else come across this - any suggestions what I can do. I beleived that they were calling from vodafone - but I was at work so probably was not as much on my guard as I should have been. Any advice welcome.0

Thank you Hopefullyuseful1.
I am pleased to say that after a bit of 'tooing and froing' Vodafone have now agreed to pay the money back in full. Thanks.0 -
Glad you got it sorted - I was going to say, it's actually against regulation for a person to be double-insured for the same item, so in this case one insurer would legally have to reimburse (they negotiate which one between them).Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0

Please help my husband is in a similar situation with Carphone Warehouse.
He purchased a phone and insurance on a 12 month contract in February 2004. He wasn't told that the policy runs seperate to the phone. He has been paying quaterly £32.50. He doesn't even have the phone any more.
Carphone warehouse say that it is his fault he didn't cancel the policy so they are not going to refund any money. They say we can appeal. As far as I can tell he has never been notified of any automatic renewal process nor do the terms and conditions state it is continuous. Just that the period of cover is- any period for which we have accepted a your premium.
Any advice would be appreciated.0 -

Oh dear,
This doesn't sound quite right. We wouldn't normally ask for an advance payment for insurane on your account. There may be a perfectly reasonable explanation for this.
If you e-mailed me here at Vodafone using our Vodafone online contact us form, I could have a look at your account and check this out to confirm whether this was us or not.
Include the code FIT135 somewhere in the body of your e-mail and this will come to me here in the forum team where I can check for you. I do hope you haven't been the victim of some rather nasty scam here, lets hope I can confirm otherwise and explain what may have happened if this was indeed ourselves who called you.
Remember to fill in the boxes on our contact form as we will check the information against your account for security before giving out any account information due to the data protection act. Hope we can help soon.

Thanks Hopefullyuseful1, I have emailed you via the contact form and would really appreciate you looking into this for me. The more I think about it though the more I realise I have probably been had. If this was a scam is there any hope of getting my £45.00 back. Appreciate any help on this. Thanks.0 -
Hi Hic,
We've had your e-mail and will now correspond regarding this via e-mail with you directly for data protection reasons.
If you are the victim of some scam, I'm sure this can be investigated through your bank as the payment to the organisation on your account should have some trails to the company who took the payment. Lets hopew you're successful and get your money back if it's a scam.
On the other hand, remember, this person was selling insurance and took advance payment for it, it's likely they were legit and have covered your phone for that price but haven't confirmed correctly with you who they are and what they do and perhaps lead you to believe they were from Vodafone.
Your statement could have details of the organisation that took the payment. It's worth googling it to find out who they are and perhaps trying to contact them.
Hope this helps!0 -
