I'm out of the habit of estimating quantities for 2 weeks as well, (trying to plan meals/shop iin 2 weekly chunks) so I underestimated things like cheese which just vanishes in my house.
£104 on A$da online shop so far, plus about £50 on meat etc at farm shop. DS's obsession with protein for body building is costing a lot of money
Thanks for the tip on the Pyrex. I live in a small town and there's hardly ever anything good in ours. These new ones from the supermarket at least come with a 10year guarantee, so worth it really.I didn't think to look on mysupermarket, but will now (can't sleep again :wall:)
Would your dh not eat some meatfree meals. There are tons of bodybuilders on youtube that are veggie and Vegan, they obviously don't need meat to bulk out.
Point him in the direction of Hench Herbivore on YouTube. He is English and massive. I can't think of any others but there are loads.
It may just cut your bill a little to have one or more days without meat. Plus it would be beneficial health wise tooGC Jan £101.91/£150 Feb £70.96/150 Mar £100.43/150 Apr £108.45 app/150 May £149.70/150 Jun £155.15/150 Jul £134.25/£150 Aug £119.37/£150 SEP £23.17/£150 (includes food, toiletries and cleaning from 13th to 12th of each month. Hi everyone,
Am back with a budget of £306.25
Making packed lunch every day this week has made a difference, but have had to get up earlier to do it, which has left me tired... need to batch cook some soups that I can just grab from the freezer instead!0 -

Isn't it unfair K9 that its a postcode lottery in terms of charity shops too? I suppose the other good thing about new Pyrex is it often comes with its own lid which is super handy.
Thanks so much for the idea of identifying veggie body builders, I never thought there was such a thing! (IYSWIM). I totally agree about some meat free days. I'd be meat free mostly if I lived by myself. I did try a lentil and sweet potato curry from BBC Good Fodd last week, sounds dull but with the amends suggested in the comments on the page, and some M&S roasted garam masala at the end instead of curry powder at the beginning, DH and 2DS all ate it happily - hurrah! :T0 -
Weekly shop, dinner money and milkman paid. I am now at £268.69 which is about right. Shop day is always Thursday, so I have 3 more full shops this month. I do still need to pick up the health store bits too. Nsd so far 7/30.
We have ds2 gang of gamers for tea tonight, so burgers, corn on the cob and fries. I'll have to think of something else for me. Maybe roasted cauli, toms and onions with rice. I probably should make something for the cake tin.... XX0 -
Haven't made it to the market thanks to a delightful procession of friends & healthcare professionals popping in to say hi! Which is lovely. But I don't think there's anything we need that can't be picked up for pennies at the supermarket instead, so I'm not fretting. If I do think of anything, one of the other family members can pop down there sometime during the weekend instead.Angie - GC Sept 25: £226.44/£450: 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 28/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0

Managed 2 NSD but just back from the weekend top up shop ( £20.53 at Moggies and £8.96 at Ald*). That did includes a bottle of pink gin and tonics and a couple of bits for some recipes I’m trying out as well as boring essentials like milk and spread. Go my gf bread YS too.
Just want to report back on the amazingness of the Mushroom lasagne recipe I used from the Nigel Slaters Kitchen diaries. You made your own pesto oil to use in it and I made my own bechemal sauce and it was so so delicious and morish. I made the recipe for roasted Squash with thyme too to go with it and served greens as well. Took ages to make but will do it again definitely.
Tonight I have taken YS chicken breasts out and will do something with those alongside Stilton onion and potato pie ( from Kitchen diaries) and YS asparagus.
There’s 3 breasts so may use the third in a stir fry with some veg that needs using up and freeze it ready for emergency dinner next week.
And I still have half a pumpkin to use up !
Have a lovely weekend everyone .Grocery challenge October: £228.28/£250.00 NSD 4 ( not completed)

Hi folks. We've had a couple of spends the last two days.
€3.90 for Activia yoghurt and some bread rolls. The yoghurt is to help my stomach because I've been on antibiotics for the last week.
€14.00 roughly, at Delhaize by OH. I asked him to pick up some more Activia yoghurt for me and he bought a bunch of stuff for himself as well. He doesn't remember the amount so that's an estimate.
TOTALS SO FAR
€87.94 / €300.00
2 / 12 NSDs
I sent out the invite for a Thanksgiving dinner later this month so I'll see how many people I'm cooking for.0 -

£78.07/£200.
£121.93 leftI am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy0 -
£47.74 for week 2 including milk. Technically it's not week 2 until Monday but I needed a few bits and I don't love the supermarket enough to go today and Monday as well so I thought I'd just get everything that was on my list.
I experimented for this evening's meal - I'm following slimming world but I wanted enchiladas so I concocted an enchilada lasagne. I made it the usual lasagne way but made a spicy enchilada mix for the filling. I used plenty of veg, tomatoes and mushrooms in the filling too. It was lovely. My cooking has been stuck in a bit of a rut lately so I want to try and make something new at least once a fortnight if I can. I'd say once a week but the lasagne made 6 portions, the macaroni cheese I made earlier in the week made 5 portions and there's only me eating them so....0 -
