2 different carpets fitted at house but supposed to be the same. Supplier wont change

The fitter supplied the carpet and fitted. He came back and took a look at our issue and agreed (2 men came back) that they were not the same carpet. He also advised when we raised the issue that he noticed the carpet looked different but thought it was due to the 2 carpets being 2 different roles and possibly being a slight different shade but then looked and agreed the carpet is different. He advised it was not his fault and it was given to him by the supplier and then came back and said the supplier is not accepting that and wont change it.
It is down to the fitter then.
He should have noticed before he fitted and the supplier probably has in the t&cs that any discrepancies must be advised before fitting etc.
It is for him to argue it out with the supplier but I doubt he will get anywhere.(Does he have any offcuts he could send to them)
Perhaps you could negotiate a discount with hiim?0 -
As per post #11 ... who did YOU pay for the carpet? Did you pay the fitter for everything? If yes then your claim is against the fitter, not the carpet supplier. (He may have a claim against the carpet supplier, but that's his problem not yours).
I know the "friend's husband" angle makes things more difficult, but ultimately it's his responsibility to sort it for you.0 -

It is his fault, as he is your friends husband it may get messy0 -

Yes sorry so I paid the fitter (my friends husband) for the carpet at a supply and fit agreement. He has come back with the issue with the supplier and made it out that this is part of our problem but I feel like its not really our problem its his.
Where do I stand if he wont change it? Friend or no friend we want it changed.0 -
It's his problem. He should have checked the items he picked up were correct prior to laying the carpets. Very basic part of business. You may need to request the correct carpet via letter then if nothing then letter before action then claim money back through court proceedings to get new carpet fitted.0

Is it really all that different? Is it worth the fallout with the friends?I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

You're asking me honestly, I don't actually mind how it is. I never noticed it was different but my husband Definetly wants it changed and she's my friend and not his. So he has no ties to the friendship and wants it changed. Also to be honest it's really unfair that we've paid a lot of money for this carpet and it's wrong in all rooms except the smallest one? My OP was actually to find out where I stand with the supplier if he won't change it. I'm not sure what to do if my friends husband can't get it sorted I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. I really feel he is going to sort it but just wanted to try and assist if we can with going to the supplier......watch this space0

So are you saying only the smallest room has the carpet you actually wanted? If so, it sounds a bit dodgy tbh. Could the fitter have been trying to con you with a cheaper alternative? You only have his word he asked the supplier about a replacement?0

The fitter will have to take the hit.
It's not your problem, don't stress.0 -
Is the majority of carpet a cheaper carpet, if not could you just change the small room to match the rest.
Just thinking of an easier solution if the friend digs his heels in.
If he does dig his heels in are you prepared to take it to court0
