Technoworld is the cheapest and the best on most of the products, called the sales dept to book for a saturday delivery FOR MY UX1XN, informed them that I desperately need the UX1XN before 1400 hrs, they took my details down and promised to check with their customer care dept and call me back to confirm it it will be possible, was called back and assured a Sat delivery before 1400 hrs at no xtra charges ! Laptop arrived a tab before 11 a.m. What surprised me and prompted me to write this review was the sales chaps call to confirm if I have received my UX1XN and if I like it.The personal touch along with the best price on the web has actually won them a permanent client!

I got my UX1XN delivered on saturday pre-noon at £795.48 , u just need to call the sales team to get it £795.48 (Incl Delivery)
  • Insight.com had some a few weeks ago for around £590 which was the cheapest I'd seen them anywhere. They were sold out by the time I noticed it though or I may have been tempted. As far as I'm aware the UK model does indeed have a 32Gb flash memory which is quite full of preinstalled sony software when it arrives.

I wonder why folks would go for this, it seems expensive for the specs it provides. Seems like overpriced "pay for the brand name" laptop unless I'm missing something.

  • its actually cheap for the spec. 32 GB Flash is never cheap. laptopsdirect works out cheaper using quidco.

The EEE PC makes all of these type looks expensive.

But why do folks need a 32GB Flash drive?

Amalea, well for starters The Sony UX1XN is quite possibly one of the smallest laptops ever. it's barely bigger than a thick-ish paperback book, yet it packs a full Vista-touting PC inside its diddy dimension.
The Intel Core Solo U1500 processor, running at 1.33GHz, is nothing special and 1GB of DDR 2 memory is fairly standard. Where Sony has pulled out the stops, however, is with the hard drive. At first glance 32GB seems a bit measly, but this isn't any old 32GB model - it's a Flash drive. This has two advantages: it's faster than a standard drive and it's also more durable since there are no moving parts. While you should still treat UX1 carefully, it's going to be more resilient to the odd bump or two than a device with a traditional spinning hard drive.

Plus I will agreee with Harris, as having a quick glance at various review and price comparrison website I think www.technoworld.com is the cheapest one actually. Dont quite get the quidco bit Allan is talking about?
