    You will find cheap clothes stores in the shopping malls that sell some decent stuff.

    For food and toiletries there is Aldi.

    Now is the time to sort out suitable debit and credit cards. Starling and Monzo are ideal debit cards plus the Halifax Clarity credit card or similar.

    Cards are used extensively in Australia. I even found a petrol station that gave a discount for using card rather than cash (probably because of charges imposed by their bank).

    Speaking of petrol stations, the price can vary depending on the day of the week. Monday being the most expensive IIRC.
