Parking on Double Yellow Lines - Private Land

Hi,
I've read through the newbies thread and also tried to find similar cases but mine might be more straight forward.
I live in an Estate run by Lewisham Homes with parking run my ACE Security. Anyways, I parked on a double yellow line within the estate and received a parking ticket for this reason. The signage says cars must be parked within bays but before they took control of the car park, everyone more or less parked along the kerb in the estate instead of bays as parking in bays resulted in your car being covered in bird poo.
Anyways, we've never had this problem and suddenly today I see a parking ticket on the windscreen and wondering if they are allowed to issue this.
My thinking is that, double yellow lines are only enforceable by the council on public land and as they are claiming it is private, they are unable to issue on these double yellows?
Can anyone clarify,
Thanks,
Matrixprotein1

There's no regulation in the private parking world, they will ticket wherever they see the opportunity of taking £100 off someone daft enough to give it to them.
You need to read carefully the NEWBIES FAQ sticky, post #1 (it can't be skim-read because it contains important processes you have to follow) and adhere to its guidance in helping you deal with your problem.
Ace Securities (the Trading name for Pace Recovery and Storage) are IPC operators and there is a specific procedure you must follow for IPC operators. All laid out in the sticky.

they dont give a crap, everything is just "go through ace" lol its a joke really.
tenancy agreement even says you have to park in bays so they might go and use that in the court.
its just silly because we've been parking this way for years with no issues and we are not obstructing anything either0 -
Who has issued the ticket? It could have been the Council, as DYLs can be formalised on private land (non-highway) with the landowner's permission.0
