Well as expected I applied and they're going to "do some extra checks" before telling me if I'm successful or not so that probably means I've not been successful. Was pretty obvious really with only 1 month of credit history but it's fine, I'll apply again in 6 months or a year when I have better credit history.

Some people have success even after receiving that message.

If not then apply for a credit builder card and use it every month paying back in full and then see in 6-12 months time

I have the capital one credit builder card so I'll just use that like you said and apply again in 6 months - 1 year.

You can also leave it 2-3 days and call AMEX quoting your application reference for a quicker response.
