Apcoa pcn

Hi all,

I've had a good look through the NEWBIES FAQ Thread and just want clarification before sending an appeal.

A vehicle was hired from a Hire Company at Birmingham Airport. The car collected a passenger "outside a designated dropping off or picking up area" The hire company have forwarded the hirers details to APCOA who have written to the hirer within 28 days of the incident.

The hire company have taken over £40 from the hirers credit card without the hirer agreeing, and APCOA are looking for £100.

The hirer has less than a week before the 28 days is up. How should they move forward? Are APCOA one of the registered companies that I see spoken about?

Hope this makes sense.

Thanks, harrymac111

the hirer needs to read the last paragraphs of the NEWBIES FAQ post #1 and follow the instructions and advice by edna basher, appealing as hirer

APCOA are BPA members and may offer popla

that land is covered by bylaws , so read up on POFA2012 non-relevant land , read other APCOA ones at Luton and BHX airports and follow what they did, like this one

    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5911707/apcoa-luton-airport-won

there are plenty of BHX APCOA threads about appealing to apcoa and then to popla on here, just use the forum search to find them, that way all the heavy lifting has been done for you

the hirer needs to raise a dispute with the hire co over that one off charge, so check the T & C,s of the hire agreement, it probably only covers penalties and fines, not private parking charges

these hire charges have also come up regularly on here so read those too
  • is a POPLA Appeal the same information that went into my APCOA appeal? I can't see any POPLA appeal examples. I'm getting stressed and feel like just paying the fine lol

    no its not

see post #3 of the NEWBIES FAQ sticky thread and find recent winning popla appeals by reading the POPLA DECISIONS thread backwards from the end until you find a suitable hire vehicle one that you can adapt, preferably from 2018

ie:- use the previous work of others to make your journey easier , seeing as others have already been through the mill and won

Hi harrymac111. Don't get stressed. Did you read the link Redx provided? It looks like Apcoa are easy to beat. The stress is part of their scam .... give people the heebie-jeebies and they'll pay up! Chill out and fight 'em. You'll get the help you need here once you've put in a bit more work yourself.

Could you clarify, have you submitted an appeal to Apcoa yet? I'm a little confused as to whether you're looking for advice about that appeal or the next stage - the POPLA appeal. That is different but although it takes a bit of concentration, it is the stage at which hire car appeals are so often won.

APCOA are a cinch to beat as long as you don't say who was driving (and even if you have...)!

    As MistyZ says:

PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
