It is the compensation interest that has been taxed.
What is compensation interest? Did they mis-calculate your interest at some stage?
  • When I moved house 10 years ago, Halifax also changed my address on my bank account without me informing them and I was curious as to how it had happened (albeit, I didn’t ultimately prove that much). It all happened within the space of a few months and hadn’t updated the electoral register by that point.

Interestingly, they made a hash of changing it, by omitting the “old” and “road” from the first line of my new address and despite many instructions to correct it, it still remains the same 10 years later...
