  • If you are comfortable using the internet i would highly recommend a Xiaomi Mai70 from Aliexpress.

But bear in mind that "you pays your money and takes your chance" with AliExpress - the contract of sale is with a Chinese company, so if anything goes wrong your consumer rights are limited.

£30 fitting charge is probably worth it. A previous post said they spent 2 hours fitting it ... they obviously value their time at less than £15 per hour. :)

Yeah, think we've decided to go shopping at Halfords together to choose, money saved is wasted if we can't use it so better to do it the easy way for us I think, thank you for all the help everyone.

Time means nothing when you are retired, fitting a dashcam was a couple hours of something to do plus saving £30.:D

I bought the Nextbase 412GW from Amazon, with a 32Gb micro SD card and a hardwire kit.Local garage fitted it and just one wire comes from the roof lining down. It has a magnetic fixing so you can just remove the camera part, plus there is a mobile phone app from the wi-fi on the camera that you can download the data to if needed.

You can also remove the micro sd and put the info onto a pc.

I think that the suggestion of Halfords Supply & Fit is a good one. However, I would maybe suggest either ensuring you can refund your selection or allow hubby to choose one himself - some will fit the car better than others - OK, so all will 'fit' the car, but some will look better and fit around or behind the rear view mirror and any sensors built into it or the screen.

I had mine wired in at Halfords ...not a wire in sight:)

I wired my own. Aside from the few inches from the rear-view mirror to the headlining, there are no wires to be seen on mine either.

Be aware that footage on a dashcam can be used against you, of course it may help to, just saying.

Not your own footage if you don't produce it!
