I've taken a photo of the sign but i don't seem to be able to post it here

NEWBIES - HOW TO UPLOAD LINKS TO PHOTOS/SCANS TO MSE

To upload a photo/scan link, you first need to host it on a free photo hosting site (like Dropbox, Imurg or Tinypic), copy the URL, paste it here, but change the http to hxxp and we'll do the conversion. Newbies can't directly upload links to photos/scans until they've a few posts under their belt.

Where is the prominent parking charge?

In the small print I can just about see mention of £70.

Keith is on the button with that. It's "small print" and easily defended at court but you'd have to see it through the process.

    As mentioned before at #10

  • Got a response from my senior unison rep which reads as follows
"Just ignore it, you will probably get 2 letters saying your credit score etc will be affected, it won't,just don't engage with them. We have looked it up and they have never tsken anyone to court. In the unlikely event that you do get a summons then pay it'

I wasn't expecting to get that sort of response to be honest. This is just through email to my trust rep rather than actually ringing unison.

Thought I'd feel safer hearing from the rep, but don't at all

What, they reckon you should pay it if you get a claim form?
    Yikes.
    Rubbish advice.

Why ignore it, it won't go away, in the sense that at any time in the next 6 years they can pounce and issue court proceedings. Get it killed at POPLA and it's all done and dusted. Game over!
We have looked it up and they have never tsken anyone to court.
    Where have they been looking?

You only get a 'summons' in a criminal case, a private parking case is a civil matter and you would receive a court claim, not court summons! And you wouldn't 'pay it', you'd surely defend it.

And you pay for these people to represent your employment interests? How much of that stuff do they get wrong? Because they've got almost all the advice they've given you on this parking charge totally wrong!

I used to be a Unite union rep. If I spouted rubbish like your Unison rep has done here, I would have been voted out years ago.

Follow our advice. If/when you win at PoPLA, tell your rep how it should be done and insist they update their knowledge base so they tell other members to deal with it properly.

Don't forget to get your MP on the case. MPs have called these companies scamming cowboys. Tell your onion rep that as well.

  • Thank you all for your feedback. I don't feel comfortable leaving it at all, knowing it could come back and bite me is something my nerves couldn't handle. I'm going to follow the appeal process and see whats said - I shall have a proper look through the newbie thread to make sure i am using the most up to date appeal letter. And will also look into getting some proper legal advice through unisons website rather than the personal emails to the rep in work
