What happens if a phone can’t be repaired, but is under warranty?

    You need to decide what you are claiming under. Your statutory rights are with the retailer. Your warranty rights are with the manufacturer. CPW don't have to do anything if you are claiming under warranty, because theirs has expired, so you must go to the manufacturer.
    Only if you are claiming under CRA 2015 do you go via CPW, but that would be pointless when you still have the 2 year warranty option.
    No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

    Of course, if the phone being sent back as 'beyond economic repair' CPW may have already sent it to Google for the OP and it maybe that Google are saying that. When the OP get's the phone back with (hopefully) some paperwork things may become clearer.

    So what you’re saying is that CPW won’t do anything as THEY only offer 12 months warranty.
    Do I need to go back to Google then to get the 2 years warranty?

    This is all very confusing and misleading.
