Argos trying to charge for cancelled order
Comments
-
Hi, I gave the rug to a friend - I didn't need it anymore and couldn't post it back (we are talking about a very big and heavy item here, not something you can just take to post office). It doesn't seem right that this is my responsibility now since I cancelled the order before it was dispatched and I made it available for them to collect.
Surely I am not expected to store a massive item for months for them???
Well you'd better ask for friend for it back then0 -

Just one of many if you Google it0 -
'If items are sent to you by mistake, you will need to contact whoever sent them and ask them to collect the goods.
That shouldn't cost you anything or inconvenience you in any way. You should also give the company a reasonable deadline to collect the items.'
I did do the above - but they failed to turn up to collect.... I think I will be looking for a contact to write a complaint to0 -
They are not unsolicited goods, they were sent by mistake and it's an important difference. It means that the company can chase you for the debt through the civil court if they choose.
You haven't answered the question about whether you tried to contact them again so I'm reading that as a no. I'd have been emailing them every day if they were that big a nuisance. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -

I did not contact them again, no. I work 60+ hours a week and their customer service is slow and appallingly incompetent - quite frankly, I think it is their problem more than mine.0 -
Apparently the return process 'should not inconvenience me in any way' and 'should be within a reasonable deadline', I don't see how they have fulfilled either of the conditions....0
