The wall grille has to let fluff/ lint out with the damp air, if it builds up in the hose it is a fire risk. Perhaps the slope and material of the hose discourages insects etc? Or guests get a free steam body treatment as a parting gift! :p

I see where you are coming from and agree. But at the same time I still feel like anything could crawl up it! It seems to be a standard fitting though? Even with the cowl ones you can get I think these are open at the bottom?

I don't know about the material of the hose - its just a bog standard concertina hose that came with the dryer!

The dryer probably won't be in use during the Spring/Summer months either so there won't be any hot air blowing out.

We have the same type of installation & have had no problem with anything creeping in over the last 20 years.
Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.

Stick an old pop sock or mesh bag over the outlet? Still got some air flow so damp doesn't get up the hose somehow, but no critters. Visible solution, so you remember to remove it in six months.

Or e-mail the brand's Customer Service department what they usually recommend? Then MSE-up a cheaper version!

Is yours a 3 flap vent then? And is the hose sealed directly to it? Is it sealed on the inside as well? Do you get ant draft?

Same thing but with only two flaps. I do have the tube going through the wall but I don't see that making any difference. We don't get draughts because the tumble dryer door is shut when not in use. There is no mesh or anything to stop critters getting in.
