Installing tumble dryer vent concerns

Hi All
Just looking for a bit of reassurance.
We have finally found a plumber with the tools to come and install a tumble dryer vent (one of them core drills to go through the brick wall)
We asked him if we needed to buy a kit ahead of him coming and he said that it’s not necessary, and that all we need is the outside plastic cover. We already have the hose that came with our new tumble dryer.
When I have watched videos online, they seem to have a tube (think its called a duct?) that goes through the wall, and the hose then feeds through that?
I am a bit concerned that just a bare brick hole might be exposed to damp/insects etc?
Should I just assume the plumber knows what he is doing!? He’s only charging £50 for the job? (someone else quoted £120!)

I didn't buy a kit, just the cover for the outside and obviously the vent coming from the dryer. My uncle pushed the vent through the hole, sealed it to the cover then fitted the cover to the wall & sealed the inside wall. Been the 2 years no problems.0

I would get the kit as if the seal between the cover and vent hose fails you will never know as it is hidden inside the wall and it will be blowing moisture into your wall cavity which may cause damp.0

Get a heat pump dryer more efficient and saves the cost of making a hole.0

You really don't need the kit, and I wouldn't buy it unless the vent definitely has an insect screen. You need an insect screen to stop insects getting in.
The bare brick hole isn't going to create any problems with damp, providing the hose is secured to the vent with a cable tie, and the only part of the kit that is provided to secure the hose connection to the vent is a cable tie. So you are effectively paying £11.99 for a cable tie!The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.0 -
Personally I'd have rigid plastic duct fitted because you can seal these inside and out, I'd also have an exterior outlet with a cowl and flap damper to stop draughts. Use s pipe connect to attach the flexi hose to the pipe. You can buy plates to make good the damage to the interior wall.0

I have one and mine is far less efficient, 90 mins later thing can still be very damp and un-wearable.
You don't understand how to use it they can can take longer than those with heaters but efficiency does not mean quick means use less energy
There is also the possibility you have a poor washing machine that leaves clothes with too much moisture.
Or you have a rubbish one,
Mine does small loads in 90.mins full 8kg I expect around 2 hrs out of my washer, standard time is nearer 3hrs0 -

He basically drilled the hole (which took a long time) and then put the hose through the wall and sealed it to the vent on the outside. The vent is one of these plastic ones with three flaps and if you open the flaps you can see right in the hole! So anything could get in, spiders, leaves, mice! I want it changed!!
There is no sealing on the inside. The hole literally just comes through the wall then through the back of the unit and attached to the tumble dryer. Surely we should have some sort of plate attached to the unit? Though I'm not sure what happens to the inside of brick as you can't see that because the kitchen unit is in front of it.
Its been really windy past two days and I've felt terrible draft coming from it which isn't right.
Hopefully its easily fixed as we have the hole now which was the most difficult bit.0
