Pointed out this tariff a few weeks back

Not sure why it's taken MSE nearly 2 months to notice its the cheapest around.0 -
As an existing British Gas customer I tried to switch to the new tariff as discussed by Martin on Breakfast this morning. However, I found I was ineligible because I already have the BG Homecare Policy. As the new tariff also covers boiler inspection and maintenance this seems logical, but still unfair that I can't benefit from the new tariff.0

......... but still unfair that I can't benefit from the new tariff.
Welcome to the forum. There is nothing fair or unfair about it. Suppliers are allowed to offer deals in whatever form that they wish. For example, some deals are limited to new customers only, and some are only available to residents in a certain catchment area. Some suppliers will not offer tariff changes without the payment of exit fees and so on. It is what Ofgem calls competition. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. There are actually two tariffs launched on the same day several weeks ago..
British Gas Energy Plus Boiler Cover Oct 2019
British Gas Everything Online Green Oct 2019
The differences between the two were negligible when I did a comparison, both were saving me about £200.
So you should be able to switch to the other hopefully. (Still requires a smart meter within 3 months. had mine fitted yesterday).0 -
I'm, sure you probably already know there is no such thing as loyalty from companies!
There are however several companies offering good deals without the smart meter requirement....0 -
Is the Green tariff only available directly through Br.Gas website? I can't see it on CEC or Citizens Advise comparison sites..There are actually two tariffs launched on the same day several weeks ago..

It's not that brilliant, whilst it does seem to be the cheapest fix available, for my figures/region, that's only after the cashback otherwise Avro is cheaper and Eon after cashback is only £1 per year more than BG. Also its 15% more than the cheapest variable, so I suppose it depends how much the variable will go up over the next year.
Not for me as I have a much cheaper fix from the summer, but for those who moaning about the smart meter, then don't just look at the cheapest as the price between alternatives might not be that great.0 -
We did ok from this. It ended up costing us £8 extra per month from last year's deal with Sainsbury's, or British gas if you prefer.
For that we got the boiler cover.
We've got a smart meter, was unplugged for weeks, noone noticed.
If it doesn't suit you, fine, go elsewhere.Space available for rent0 -
According to Cheap Energy Club, this tariff would cost me £123 extra a year than my current Solarplicity/Outfox combination - and that's with £25 cashback factored in. Then there's a £60 early exit fee, and I usually set my Energy Club settings to ignore any early-exit-fee tariffs as I want to be able to split when a better deal comes along. Now are those defending this deal on account its being a fix during a time of rising fuel costs going to tell me my current providers or any cheaper ones will be charging me more than £10 extra per month average over the coming year? I'm currently using £31 or so per month, that would be a 130% hike (average). Still I suppose it's not impossible.
Forgot: my boiler's overseen by my landlord. Boiler cover pointless.0
