When you say her sister uses them all, it makes me wonder if she is using the carpet as that is 'hers' and only hers? Cats do like to have their own things, could you get a post only she can use? (I realise that isn't easy but if she gets scratching it, when only she can, as in while supervised, the other cat might get the message and leave it alone?)

Have you tried a catnip spray to entice her to use the one you want, and maybe something not so nice smelling where she does go?

I've tried encouraging Albus with things before Lupin gets her claws on them, but if they're where there's carpet she's not interested. She'll happily use scratching posts etc where it's a wooden floor, when occasionally both cats will scratch the same post at the same time. (They've stayed as close as when they were kittens, often still sleeping together etc.) She doesn't react to catnip - but Lupin reacts enough for both of them!
    . . .I did not speak out

    Then they came for me
And there was no one left
    To speak out for me..

Kleeneze...Scratch no More. It is citrus based and stops cats instantly.
In the meantime put some orane /lemon peel down till you can get some.

That's one I haven't come across, so I'll get some and give it a try. Thanks. I'll update with how well it works.

I now have a vision of my house completely covered in citrus peel ... like the sawdust in old bars ...

You could try some valerian. My cat isn't fussed by catnip at all but loves it when I get her a valerian sachet. Only problem is that it really doesn't smell that great - think cheesy feet or a well-aged parmesan!

The other option is aversion therapy! Get an indoor plant sprayer - they make a good water pistol.
By unscrewing the nozzle, you can reduce the spray to a jet.
As soon as you hear the carpet scratching, creep up behind and give the trigger a couple of squeezes. The cat will associate the scratching with the sudden arrival of a jet of water. At first, it's better that the cat realise that the jet is due to you.
Later, you can be more blatant - even the action of part-way pulling the trigger will be enough.

Strips of Sellotape where they scratch if you can get it to stick works well Also good on furniture when they scratch too but dont use on leather as pulls layers off

Same! We also tried 'behave spray' type things to keep them away from our bedroom door and the Christmas tree last year. They don't care. They are immune to deterrents!
