I recieved a £37 refund on my TV licence because I pay for a years licence in advance and my 75th birthday was before the licence expired. No need to to claim as it is paid back automatically after your birthday.

Of course you have to claim, how do you think TV Licensing know your birthday and when you are 75 years old plus your National Insurance number unless you tell them.

I won't be entitled to a free license for over 2 years yet & when the gov were going to provide it I had no problem, but now the BEEB has to fund it themselves I am having second thoughts.

But if you had told them when you renewed on the last renewal before 75, you wouldnt have needed to pay it in the first place. BTW how did they know you were 75?
