Flat owner with share of freehold, wanting a dog to visit.

  • I live in a no pets block and quite regularly on a weekend afternoon a large sounding dog visits the flat below and often lets off a couple of excited barks when he sees who ever is there. it doesn't bother me at all, or any of the other residents i assume as no one has complained!

I can't see how your visiting dog would cause inconvenience and unless it specifically states you can't have canine / animal visitors in your lease, I can't imagine the management company doing anything about it?

some people really do have too much time on their hands, so i'd ignore the neighbour and see if anything happens.

Sorry if hijacking thread but I have often wondered what constitutes a dog as a visitor.
I am looking for flat that will accept a small dog every 2 weekends for overnight stay on Saturday only. I share my dog with ex partner.
I keep having this reguest refused and now at point where i am wondering whether I should mention having a dog at all and just think of her as a visitor....I would rather not go down this route but what are your views on this?

To rent? Yes a landlord can write it in that they do not want any dogs in their house under any circumstances. If they choose to put that in the tenancy that is their decision.

Your the one who decides to accept their terms and conditions.

If buying then your answer may be found in this thread.

Your dog isnt a visitor if you own it and have a regular share agreement in place. Being dishonest won't help if you get caught

    Thanks for reply

I am not aiming to be dishonest but wondering if I should mention dog in the first place..not wait for landlord to say no and then ignore that...that is something i would not do.
    Thanks anyway
