That's more understandable though ... same as a lot of people will use a Hoover when they mean a vacuum cleaner.

Biro, hoover are two others that spring to mind.

Adding number after PIN or VIN and testing after PAT just show that the user is ignorant of the actual meaning of the TLA.

Anyone can get VIN from number plate. It's useful to check spec of the car or confirm with HPI check.

GDPR limited number of websites that give VIN from number plate, but it's still possible to get it. Someone now VIN requires protection which is bull*, since it's clearly visible under the windscreen.
