  • Hope you get an appointment soon atb to set your mind at rest.

Madly busy week but I have kept on top of the housework and laundry and managed to get to the gym twice.

Teens are in the kitchen so will wait until they are finished cooking before I do a final tidy up. DS1 said he might ring from college tonight which would be lovely. He is home next weekend, I think waving him off will be hard when he goes back.

Feet up now, think it will be an early night.

Still not solved the tech problems, but the place is a thing of beauty - and the wonder of mates; one who does this stuff professionally for rather famous people is offering to help. OK, it means working for another day in half term, but it'll be worth it by being able to either fix it or somebody smarter than me pronouncing death.

Lots of group hugs all round, especially ATB, Narc0 and Froddington.

I'm home from work, dinner has been cooked and eaten. There has been general banter around the table, which is heartening. DH has gone out for a couple of hours, and DD and I are going to watch a film. It's the little things that really matter, isn't it?

Oh and I have my pjs on. :D

    Morning all.

Hope your letter arrives today with an early appointment, atb.

Jojo, you sound like you're on a mission!

Big (((hugs))) to Narc0, Froddy and anyone else coping with parents who can't help frustrating/upsetting you. I am currently reading 'Elizabeth is Missing' by Emma Healey, and it has reminded me how badly I coped with my own mother's ageing process - so aptly described by one critic as 'the fragmentation of the human mind.'

I had a mixed day yesterday: it started badly when I went out to collect Rosie from kennels and only remembered halfway there that I should have brought her treats and light lead for scentwork, and didn't have time to come home, fetch them, go back to collect her, and then drive across country to the class. I had already decided that life was getting in the way again - I have rarely managed to practice with her at home - so I was not going to continue taking her after half term. I'm afraid I sent a text message to the trainer and we just didn't go :(:(:(

We went out for a delicious hot pie lunch at the forest cafe as planned, with a dog sausage for R :p, and DH sat outside in the sunshine doing logic puzzles (so at least he had some fresh air) while R and I went for the longest walk we've ever done there :) She had a great time racing around among the trees and chasing squirrels! I even discovered an arboretum with neatly mown lawns right in the middle of the forest: weird!

Back home by 4 pm, the sun was still shining, so I decided to plant last year's bulbs in pots which I can slot into gaps in the garden in spring - all done. I also planted the indoor hyacinths for New Year in their bowls and left them in the dark of the garden storage box. And it was still sunny when I had done that, so I dismantled some old wooden planters, re-potting a couple of nice self-set evening primroses as I did so, and then swept up the back yard before sundown. That's several more things off my to-do list :D A quick tea, choir practice and GBBO Extra Slice finished off the day nicely.

DH also took a phonecall from the GP. The chest xray taken last Friday has shown that he does (did?) have a nasty chest infection, so she has prescribed him more ABs and he has to go back to see her on Wednesday morning.

I have already put tonight's stew in the SC. My college group has a 'field trip' this morning, but first I have to go to the pharmacy down the road and collect DH's prescription, as they are only open this morning.

Hope everyone has a good day xx

    And breathe....

I've just had a week of work (full-time) + hospital visiting (Mum) + visiting Dad to make sure he's ok, and I am beyond tired. I wasn't fully spooned before the week started having just returned to work following sick leave with a 'digestive' problem - which may, or may not, be due to a sensitivity to wheat and dairy .

I now have a week off work on Annual Leave, so if I can get my derriere in gear I'll be flying.... well fluttering anyway. Mum says she is going to discharge herself today - I pointed out that if she leaves against medical advice she'll end up back in there, like she did last time.... and the time before that. So we'll see what today brings ….

The house looks like a bigger bomb than usual has hit it :o Nothing has been done … and I mean nothing!

First job is to tie up overflowing bin bags, put in bin, and put empty bin bags in place. And I'll set a load swishing in the WM. Then I'll get dressed.....

    Every little helps.... :o

  • Rotten stinky felines decided we needed awakening at the usual time for work. So I went through the usual routine, made tea, took a cup upstairs for Himself and then they promptly went back to sleep again, leaving me wide awake and not particularly delighted about this, especially as Himself is included in the snorers.

Yes, I know I've had him doing a day and a half of work with me for free, but he's the one who is tired? He didn't even come in until I'd done all the heavy lifting, shifting, cleaning and scrabbling around on the floor with thousands of wires. And I've done the other bits of my job at the same time.

The kitchen needs cleaning and mugs located from their festering spots around the house, too - weird since there was no dinner made on Wednesday night and I've paid for takeaways for the last two evenings. It's almost as though he's not doing as much as he claims he is...

    Rubbish out.
    Dressed.
WM x 2 on line. We have clean underwear :D
    Made bed.
    Fed birds.
Upset by 'friend' saying 'now you know how we (she & her husband) feel having supported D (her brother-in-law) through cancer/divorce over the past two years'. No I don't. I don't have the foggiest idea how that feels. But some people have to have it bigger / better / blacker/ worse for some reason.
Cried on DS's shoulder and had a bit of a rant.
Went to Mr C00p and bought and ate a sandwich made with bread!!! - no ill effects so far - so maybe I'm not sensitive to wheat now (if I ever was).
Dad has just phoned and asked me to visit Mum again tonight - she's down as they've told her she has to stay in two more days at least - so I'll no doubt be snapped and snarled at again :(

Will need to go back to Mr C's and buy Mum a couple of magazines before visiting - she's asked for something to read.
Then I'm treating DS and his GF to tea at a pub near S!!!!horpe - just because I can. (And it means I don't have to wash any pots so that we can eat - yep, it's that bad :o)

Usually I watch Strictly, Casualty, Killing Eve on a Saturday night - should be home for Casualty - as if I've not had enough of hospitals this week lol.

  • Just sat down after two and a half hours in the kitchen.

    All detritus removed from surfaces.
Washing up retrieved from all downstairs locations.
Sink scrubbed and food particles removed from the gunk catcher.
    Countertops scrubbed.
Vast amounts of washing up done.
    Tiles scrubbed.
    Hob cleaned.
    Chopping boards scrubbed.
    Appliances wiped.
Table wiped of evidence of Idiot Cat's trips into the back garden.
    Briefly swept floor.
Put cleaning materials away rather than left on the side where I had found them all.

Also swept wetroom floor, replaced toilet roll instead of leaving it sat on the cistern and the empty tube inner on the holder and shoved evil chemical down the loo.

At 1.30pm, I started heading upstairs to notify Himself that it's his turn now. As I turned the corner, he was sitting on the side of the bed and reaching for his socks, having obviously heard the Footsteps of Impending Trouble.

He's now stuck a washload on, taken the recycling out, collected the mugs from upstairs and it looks like he's making a point of not sitting down before he's done at least 10 things.

I'm debating internally about whether to do something about the inside of the living room window, as I've pulled the blinds up fully for the first time in ages and it's easy to see where the cats lean against the glass with their little noses to make ack-ack sounds at birds and squirrels. But they are both sleeping peacefully on opposite ends of the bay window in the sunshine at the moment, so I'll keep to drinking my tea (which was wisely made for me without asking) and faffing around on here for a while yet.

Ranting and crying is good for the soul.

I give Himself a hard time on here, but I'm not entirely bereft of understanding that he's found it emotionally draining and traumatic dealing with his father - I got in from Choir on Wednesday to find him on the point of being a complete wally and annoying me immensely, but rather than leaving him to it, I pestered at him until he finally broke down and cried for the first time since before his father's hospital admission. And admitted that he thinks both his parents are idiots.

If it's getting all too much for you Roundtuit, there is absolutely nothing wrong in saying you can't make it to the hospital, making it a short visit - 'We're just popping in today/tonight/can't stay for long' - or even leaving if she's snarling at you. If your house has got so bad, then that - and your time to rest - is more important than doing things that in all honesty can wait until tomorrow.
