Debenhams, Manchester rant!

I'm not sure what I was thinking at the time but I decided to visit the restaurant at Debenhams in Manchester city centre, thinking it may be a little better than it was before.

Oh boy was I wrong! After seeing other people being pushed from pillar to post not knowing which counter to go to I thought I'd just order a plate of chips and pick up a scone for my self of the self serve bit.
I had my little girl walking with me and no pram so I wanted to be quick because the trays tend to be VERY slippy and I wanted a brew.
When I was told to go to a different counter for my chips, I was served re-fried brown things with black bits at the ends I can count on my hands how may chips there actually were! I got a miniscule pot of horrible tea and an orange drink.
Now, I was charged 1.60 for the s**t chips and the bill came to 5 pound something for the whole thing. When I opened the clotted cream it was all yellow and crusty on top, I dread to think how long it had been clotted for!!!

Anyway, at the end of this I needed a trip to the ladies, well they were worse than the last time I went which was a good year ago! They stank of crap, there were no intact locks on the door and there was urine on one of the seats as well as half the cubicle lights being out!

For gods sake! They charge enough for the rubbish they sell they could at least provide decent toilets!! I should have learned from my last visit, DO NOT go there for a decent plate of grub!

The last three times I've been to Debenhams the service has been shocking-I don't go anymore.
The service from the staff (Birmingham and Leeds branches) was shocking, expecially for a department store where you expect more.
One staff member was standing in front of some bath products I was trying to reach, I had to say 'excuse me please' four times before she heard me as she was chatting to her friend about which bars in town had the fittest men
If it hurts no-one, let it be

I hope you have written to the store to complain! The very words used in this post would do nicely.

Being a mystery shopper, I am very critical of service in places such as department stores, as they make large profits and really should invest a bit into making their customers' refreshments and loo necessities a decent experience.
Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.

I used to go in Debenhams for food but it was a shambles, same as Littlewoods was and BHS.

We usually go in Yum Yums now in the Printworks for an all you can eat chinese buffet for £5 or £6 ... or in a rush, go in Voyagers.

The department stores are a rip off!
  • You should have gone to the big eating place at the top of the Arndale. There's a lift at the side of boots, so you don't need the big escalator to go up. It's lovely up there :D You know for next time now :D
