Good point. Islandman are you sure you need a wifi speaker or bluetooth? The cheaper speakers above that you showed interest in are bluetooth only.

Neil, whilst had been thinking using my laptop to speaker, it would probably make more sense and easier to use my phone, bluetooth on both and same wifi.

Try a Google Home speaker and use your Spotify account with that.
This would also give you access to other sources you may find useful, including radio stations.

and this suggestion would satisfy my temptation to have a google mini or google home. I'm sure someone commented recently that the sound from a "home" was better, but we are not overly fussed, I would like to think it wasn't tin'y though. Maybe someone that has tried both might comment?.

On Wed, we are off to our family abroad, where I know they have two speakers. They replaced the first due to the sound, I can recall hearing from both, but that was before I became interested. Either way, this will go on hold till we return, but will update while we are there.

I have both, the Home is better than the mini. That said, the mini is fine if you are not an audiophile and just want it for general listening. It's not Tinny and you can alter the Base and treble from within the app.
That said, If you can stretch to the Home then you, IMO, should.

Update, we have, or rather my daughter has sorted this account out and I now have premium from her account. Will be trying it out tomorrow then take the next step towards a speaker.
