Student discount on new contract

I’m a student and have a unidays account which entitles me to various student discounts. I recently noticed I would be entitled to a discount with ee through unidays. (Who I’m contracted to now) anyone know if this discount applies when renewing a contract or getting an upgrade?

I’m due an upgrade at the beginning of 2019 and was wondering if this unidays code will entitle me to get the discount off the monthly bill as well as the phone?

Also anyone know if the discount would work when you go through to the retention’s dept o the phone when you do the whole thing of threatening to cancel to try and get a cheaper deal?
