Work has been, and will continue to be, absolutely mental over the past/next week. I'm pulling 12/14 hour days and it's awful. Being self employed though, I have to make hay while the sun shines.
I have a lovely break with my family towards the end of the next week and
99%of presents have been purchased and wrapped.
DS has obviously been eating my gingerbreads from the tree and the bottom is now looking decidedly bare! But still nice.
We've got most of the big ticket food items and will just need to do a fresh food run next weekend.
Hope everyone's plans are going well.0 -
I feel decidedly un-Christmassy now. A third party is causing havoc and needs to be managed but my hands are tied until Monday

Sorry VfM4meplse that you are having a problem with a third party. I hope you can get it resolved on Monday.
I seem to be in headless chicken mode myself. Went to collect DH meds and the most important one, his cancer drugs, is OOS till Monday, that's ok but it means another trip to the chemist. I still have 3 cakes to marzipan and ice, an oncology review appointment for DH, a fresh food shop at the end of the week and a partridge in a pair tree :rotfl:. I keep thinking Xmas is weeks away, but it's not . Never mind it will all be done but in what fashion is anybody's guess

Planned on an early night but gonna hit the Baileys and make my Chrimbo cake now - the fruit's been drunk on Captain Morgan's for weeks so I need to pull my finger out now and get on with it.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

VfM4meplse Never feel ashamed for moaning- ever. We are all under pressure from different things and at different times because that's life and I too can moan/rant like nobody's business. Sometimes I feel like the queen of it, but it doesn't mean that someone else has to stop because of my situation.
DH was diagnosed with incurable cancer nearly 4 years ago, but every time he has a review our hearts are in our mouths. Nevertheless we pick ourselves up and carry on because DH won't give in, so nor will I. Every year that he's still here is a bonus and he so looks forward to Christmas, when I sometimes feel I could do without the stress of it. However when all is done and I can relax, there's nothing better than putting my feet up and reflecting on how well things went ....... or didn't, go to plan
.
Anyway here we are and every year I'm never ready and always scrabbling in the last week :rotfl:.
I hope everyone else's plans are coming together.

nannywidow - such fortitude! Keep going, a positive approach goes such a long way.
I also think the marmite sprouts are an interesting concept, could it be that two foul-tasting foodstuffs could combine to make something vaguely palatable? But in truth I'd be happy with cheese-on-Christmas tree crumpets for Christmas dinner.
Had a lovely sociable evening with friends after spending the day with my wonderful niece.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Hope everyone is ok........ busy, busy, busy I expect.
Well I have wrapped the last of the presents and marzipanned 2 cakes. Unfortunately I did a bit of juggling with the third, a smaller one which ended up as crumbs on the kitchen floor . It was Dad's so he will have to share ours as I don't have the time (or the inclination ), to replace it. I have also made the royal icing, ready to ice the cakes and sorted out the freezer again. I'm sure there's a naughty elf that keeps moving things, so that I can't find anything :rotfl:.
Take care all and good luck with the preparations :xmastree:Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently0 -
It's the penultimate night of my week with my dear niece (or FTJ - Full Time Job - as I like to call her). We've had such a fun week packed with Christmassy activities, she still likes a long nap in the afternoon which has given me a break during the day and licence to cuddle her in front of kids Christmas shorts until way past midnight. I'm currently treating her to some OS Noddy and BigEars
Things will feel very flat for me next week.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Telecommunication is such an amazing development - when I was her age you would be lucky to find a payphone that hadn't been vandalised, yet FaceTime is her normal. I have convinced her that I have a hotline to SantaValue-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!
