We're off to the big mega-Sainsbury's when we're passing a nearby city, in hopes they have more of what we want!
Yes Laura I have always done exactly that before but, unless I completely mis-read the instructions, they have changed the rules this year. You can only get the double up vouchers in store or online BEFORE the event, which happens the week after. There is a real sense of jeopardy because I may well lose them if the store(s) I go to are out of stock of the items I want. I only have one day after work next week when I am free to do the shopping, too. They have added a whole new layer of stress this time!0 -
I have succumbed to Lidl Lebkuchen.
Also, if anyone is interested (and it won't go against your principles), the sun have a voucher for a box of free luxury mince pies from Iceland. The voucher must bemused today though. The pies are palm oil free.0 -
Also there's a voucher for king prawns worth £5 in tomorrow's daily mirror (circa 70ish p?).
Maybe we'll change our Christmas starter to prawn cocktail!0 -
I don't understand why whisky is so expensive. I only wanted some bog-standard supermarket own brand to feed the Christmas cake with (can you tell I'm not a connoisseur?) and thereafter to be hidden at the back of a cupboard, but its so pricey I may as well just bite the bullet and open up the Black Label and be done with it.
Feeling v bah humbug atm!Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

I used cherry brandy to feed my Christmas cake last year. The cake was delicious and the left over brandy went down nicely with a splash of cola. Unfortunately, it was out of stock when I went to buy it this year so I've settled for plain boring brandy.0 -
I've made 2 Xmas cakes today. There is only one small one left to do, but I have run out of eggs . I thought there was a new full box, but I've either gone doolally or I left them on the counter in the shop  Hopefully that will be remedied on Monday now. I always feed my cakes with brandy, the bottle is at least 4 years old and it's only ever used for the Xmas cakes or for medicinal purposes.
Hope everyone is plodding along nicely towards Christmas.Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently0 -
Nannywidow, I hate it when I do things like that
I don't drink, so haven't checked the cost of brandy itself - but I can imagine how expensive it is! My mum asked me to get her a bottle of vodka the last time I was there. £18 for the cheapest!! _pale_ I nearly had a heart attack when I saw it! :rotfl:
I have started to wrap the presents that we've got so far. My December is so busy, I don't know when I'll get the chance otherwise. OH and I are going to go shopping at the end of November, so hopefully that will allow us to finish our shopping.
We had friends over for dinner last night, so we did a turkey crown and the trimmings (right down to the bread sauce and cranberry sauce).
Me and littlest have just had a turkey and chutney toastie, so I feel quite christmassy now... might put the Christmas movie channel on:rotfl:

My mum stashed my little niece's advent calendar out of reach and I have asked her to pull it out for me. Need to start thinking about the contents as I'll probably hand it over next weekend. It cost £8.99 or £9.99 from Aldi and this is the third year its being used, so we're getting value for money from it. I'm interested to see how disciplined she is with it this year now I'm not around; last year she got to day 8 and the next thing I knew, every box been ransacked!Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Doing a spot of Xmas shopping on eBay - something for my OH for the stocking and a sweatshirt for my brother, to which I may add some embroidery (probably a small logo), already bought the material to make a scarf so ought to crack on with that. 3 presents, under £20 spent - quite frugal even if one of them was small, it costs about £8-£10 in the shops, I got it for considerably less.2024 Fashion on the Ration - 10/66 coupons used
Crafting 2024 - 1/9 items finished0
