Buying online from outside EU

Do you have any consumer rights when buying online from outside the EU?
Website is a .co.uk site, I can't see anything on the site to say where they are based, but returns address is a unit in the UK. I'm guessing they are in China.
Do they have to follow any UK or EU rules for online selling or for incorrect/faulty items when selling to the UK as a .co.uk website?

They have to follow the rules of their own country. Anyone can have a co.uk site, it does not come with caveats.
So short answer: no.0 -

Any trustworthy company should have no problems giving their address out to potential customers and the fact that the one is question isn't doing this would be more than enough to stop me buying from them.0 -
You do have consumer rights, but you have to research the consumer rights of the country concerned and almost certainly exercise them in that country. For these reasons, I tend to avoid this type of shopping.0

All depends upon the price the more it costs the more you potentially lose if something goes wrong .0

Thanks for your replies.
They are actually refunding me the value of the items as the main item was not as described/listed. I was trying to recover shipping and return postage costs as it is their error.
I will continue arguing but I guess it's one to chalk up to experience :-(0 -

How did you pay?0 -
I paid by credit card, but as it would only be shipping costs I'm disputing it would be less than £100 (about £35 with return postage).0

That doesn't matter.
Even though the return postage costs are only £35, provided that the initial purchase was more than £100 then S75 should apply to the transaction (provided that you purchased as a consumer and the payment didn't go through a third party such as Paypal).0 -
OK thank you, I will try that if they don't refund it.0
