… according to this news article.

The warning is good, but there are the usual faults with the article referring to fines and penalties.

I married my cousin. I had to...
I don't have a sister.

All my screwdrivers are cordless.

Shouldn't it read "issued with a £90 invoice"0

You know that, I know that, but the journo got it wrong. The article even shows a picture of a penalty docket.
Like I said, it's good that the article is acting as a warning, it's just a shame that the average journalist can't use the correct terminology, or tell people how to deal with this unregulated scam.I married my cousin. Sloppy journalism using an incorrect stock image.
Have posted a link onto Trolley Talk and have also mentioned about double dipping on Sainsbury's car parks.
Thanks for the link.

This is hardly new. Lidl have been doing this for ages in many of their stores. I no longer go there "speculatively" to browse their offers, because if I end up not buying anything, I don't have a receipt to scan in their parking machines.0

I don't know why anyone would want to shop at Lidl anyway.
If you get a myWaitrose loyalty card (free signup) and shop there regularly, they often send you vouchers for offers such as £8 off if you spend £40.
You also get a free coffee, and much nicer stuff for your table.
And you don't have to mix with the hoi-polloi.
I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.0 -

I agree about Lidl but they have a captive market
because they are cheap
The rubbish about abuse simply comes from a PPC
salesperson. Even abusers can be customers so if
Lidl believe the rubbish they were told, more fool them0 -

So you go to Lidl to do your top up shopping.
Park the car, wander in to find what you want.
They don't have it in stock.
You ask an assistant.
They check.
No luck.
You go back to your car without buying anything.
But............. you don't have a till receipt to scan and it has taken more than 10 minutes.
You become the proud owner of a speculative PPC invoice.
GREAT CUSTOMER RELKATIONS, Lidl0 -

We use Lidl a lot in Spain, they do a very drinkable brandy for about £4.50 a litre, Their limoncello is not bad eitherYou never know how far you can go until you go too far.0 -
