If I had gone over 10 weeks for medical treatment would it be treated as an overpayment for not notifying them?0 -
Yes of course I was grassed up and I know who did it0

Once a year for less than 4 weeks? More times?
My thoughts as well, bit vague as to how long they did go abroad for, if it adds up to months at a time then they are not really resident here so one would think there would be a question of entitlement..0 -
Where have you read that failure to notify is an overpayment?
No: All benefits stipulate that every little thing has to be notified, from change of address to going on holiday and if you don't then you are classed as not keeping to your agreement that you sign when you apply. As far as I know, that has always been the case, and they are even stricter on it these days.0 -

The legislation doesn't require this. For example
The Employment and Support Allowance Regulations 2013
89. A claimant is to continue to be entitled to an employment and support allowance during the first four weeks of a temporary absence from Great Britain if—
(a) the period of absence is unlikely to exceed 52 weeks; and
(b) while absent from Great Britain, the claimant continues to satisfy the other conditions of entitlement to that employment and support allowance.
The legislation says nothing about having to inform the DWP about a temporary absence. Obviously if you are absent for longer than allowed and you do not tell them you are then in the wrong because you are receiving a benefit to which you are not entitled.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0 -

Apart from making little sense, this comment is also ill-informed and best disregarded.Alice Holt Forest situated some 4 miles south of Farnham forms the most northerly gateway to the South Downs National Park.0 -

Because I travelled ,because it goes against my condition? I have ways of coping for short journeys through alcohol. They don't understand that. I don't want to cause my case to be relooked at and have another assessment as I had it some months ago already but the compliance officer said I may have to .that's why even though I mentioned going abroad I rather say that I didn't at this point. It sounds like this is more to do with them investigating why you are claiming benefits for having anxiety/social phobia etc in which you claim you can't leave the house and have difficulty being around people and yet can go away on holiday for four weeks which includes travelling and I presume being out and about while on holiday. Doubt it is anything to do with the time itself and having to notify. They're quite right to investigate why you can be fine for the duration of your holiday and not the rest of the year. I'd be more concerned with that investigation which is obviously at the root of it.August-September 2017: Lots of stuff

i would of thought being out of your familiar surroundings and so far from home/ strange country would make it pretty impossible to travel like you are
i agree with others saying they probably are more interested in that partThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
