Hi,

Can anyone recommend a pay as you go sim card with no expiry please?

I only use my mobile phone in case of emergency and occasional text msg and internet.

I'm paying £7.50/mo but end up not using all the allowance (data, minutes, texts) I wonder if I can save by using a pay as you go instead.

Thanks.

San

There is no such thing. To keep a SIM alive it you will need to use it at least once during whatever the period specified by the network is.

Have a look at the PAYG providers and see what the requirements are.

Usual PAYG suspects are Asda / Tesco, just for convenience no hassle.

Send a text every 3 months should keep it going, but best check in case rules change

Three credit doesn't expire if you just top up and don't buy a bundle. Like most though, you'll need a chargeable event -make a call or text every 90 days to keep the number live. My OH still has £5.73 left from a tenner she put on in 2015....
  • This question crops up regularly on here. Both O2 Classic and Three offer PAYG with calls at 3p/min and texts at 2p. The top up credit doesn't expire, but if there are no chargeable calls the number will be ceased after around 6 months.

A common sense approach is to make a test call once per month. At 3p a test, the credit will last years. Also keep an eye on the battery, typical phone battery life degrades beyond 2 years old.
