Hi Have done a online credit check with noodle and have found the a ccj that was issued last year which i knew nothing about at an old address
i moved out of that address that the ccj has been issued to in 2012 i also have moved 3 times since 2012
the account that now has a ccj on it was opened in aug 2002 but says default was in 2014
the ccj was issued in june 2017 why such a huge gap between dates? can this be done ?
the account is owned by Arrow Global ltd but ccj been applied for by Shooesmith solicitors
also how long will the ccj be on my file for? and what happens if it doesn't get paid does it stil get removed at some point?
i also seem to have 8 closed accounts with balance of £0 on my file from 2013 do they stay on there? my credit score is low and need to improve how can i do this? thanks for your advice and help

Hi,
Very familiar story, creditors are only obliged to send court papers to the last known address of the debtor, what type of account was it, and when did you last pay it ?
If there was a gap of at least 6 years between your last payment, and the date of the CCJ, it may of been statute barred before hand, you may be able to get the judgement set aside, but the fee is £255.00 although there may be remission on the fee depending on your circumstances.
County court judgements stay on your file for 6 years, then drop off, settled or not, you can`t do much to improve your credit file whilst this is on it, just get into a habit of paying bills on time, maybe get a credit building credit card sometime in the future, clear it in full every month, get on the electoral role, common sense things like that.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Hi thanks for your reply
the account was a credit card the last payment was 2012
the debt is now £389 its a 5 1/2 year gap from last payment to ccj issued
i am on the electoral roll and have been on all the address i have lived at since 2002
if a ccj is unpaid and then after 6 yrs drops off, can another one be issued for the same debt? just interested how it works as all this is new to me.0 -
If you know you owe it why don’t you just pay it?0

Last payment 2012, CCJ 2017. You have the CCJ on your file for another 5 years. If the debt is not paid, either conforming to what the CCJ states by agreement with Arrow/shoesmiths then they can try and enforce the judgement (e.g. Bailiff or attachment of earnings). It does not become statute barred but if they want to try and enforce it after they will need to justify to the court why they have not enforced it before.
If its paid it will show as satisfied, if you can't pay it all in one go you can see if they will accept a payment plan (often judgments stipulate a payment plan)0 -

Doesn't sound like there's any defence that would justify a set-aside. They are not required to do any research into your true address - they can just use their 'last know address.' It's a bit of a loophole for them really as once they have the ccj they seem to be able to find out the present address pretty easily.
They can't make a second court claim for the same debt or at least, if they did, you would have a complete defence to that one.
It's not a huge amount - it may be best to pay this one off.0
