Water charges are not on a par with England I believe. You pay your council tax and that is it. No further water charge on top.
Water is not part of the council tax, the council simply collect the separately identified water and sewage charges on behalf of Scottish Water. In my area at band D council tax is £1204.12, water £202.41 and sewage £234.99. If you are entitled to council tax reduction that will only be applied to the council tax and not the water and sewage.

That is incorrect. Water charges on the Council Tax bill are discounted 25% for single ooccupancy.
But unmetered Scottish water is not cheap. When I moved from Yorkshire to Scotland my water charges doubled from £150 (metered, no discount) to £300 (after 25% discount). I did ask SW what it would cost if I had a meter fitted and it would have worked out about £100 p.a. more for my usage. Probably why no one has them up here.

Maybe for single occupancy but not for Council Tax Reduction which was formerly known as Council Tax Benefit.

A block grant from the money they give to the UK government? Sounds like you STILL think Scotland gives more than it takes Annandale ? Check fullfact.org

I would not advise moving to Scotland. At the moment they get subsidised, but if they ever manage to be cut free then life there could get VERY expensive, and things like university fees will skyrocket, they only manage to subsidise their way of life because of the money they get from the UK. And if you look at the graph it does not look very promising.

This is not true. There is no accurate way of measuring what Scotland makes and this is due to goods from Scotland, but being exported from English ports being mis-attributed to England rather than Scotland.

I wouldn't trust any website that is run by Tory Party donor, especially when it is in relation to Scotland.

"headed by Tory Party donor and AnneFreud Centre Chairman Michael Samuel"

However what is true is - Scots represent 8.4 per cent of the UK's total population, but they generate 9.4 per cent of its annual revenues in tax -- equivalent to £1,000 extra per person.

Also, if we were an Independent country we would most likely have a wealth fund the equivalent, if not more than Norway. We wouldn't be charged for English only projects, HS2, London Sewer System, Trident, refurb of Westminster, Buck house while we literally have people starving on the streets. Paying millions of pounds for some non-entity's royal wedding.

I, for one, would be glad to see you go. Utterly fed up with your MPs voting in English only affairs, such as Sunday opening. It's about time that stopped totally rather than sturgeon picking and choosing, especially as the English do not get chance to vote on scots laws.

If, as you say, you are financially solvent, then we want something written into the divorce that you will never ask us for money. And you will not be using £1 sterling. And you nèed to pay us your part of the deficit.

I suspect you might find things are very different than you think they are if you èver gained independance

Oh, and I would not believe a word on Quora, it is a platform used for spreading untruths in the main part.

It's not about wanting the kids to have a certain life or lifestyle, they will find their own way in the end, its about the thought of them starting adulthood in massive debt. - So save up. I don't think the taxpayer should pay for all these grants and benefits, but they do, so whats wrong with wanting some? - Because you want extra
And my kids do have a great life, money is not a problem or issue to them (yet), they have a whale of a time kicking about at home and with their pals, and you'd think they were the happiest kids in the World if you were to actually know them, but, they'll grow up, and then getting a help up wouldn't hurt!
As for not having a job and husstling to get by, you'd be suprised how few husstling opportunities there are out there and how it doesn't come close to a cushty minimum wage!
But what are you doing to improve your situation?

    That's what EVEL is...

So you don't want to give us any of the assests, but you want us to pay the debt? hmmm...

Any country can use Sterling and the BoE and Westminster can do absolutely nothing about it.

It is, but it doesn't apply to private bills.

You have a lot of assets, didn't say we didn't want you to have any assets. And you have certainly racked up your share of the debt. Might have helped if your parliament building was likely to last more than 40 years though.

You can use Sterling yes, but what will you do about a bank of last resort. And you have to have your own stable currency before you can even start to think about joining the eu.

Anyway, this is not the thread for this. As I said, I would love to see you independant, I suspect your free prescriptions and everything else would soon disappear. And we would finally totally escape the whining of sturgeon. That alone is worth the cost :rotfl::rotfl:

Not looked into transport links, but as I bomb about in a free car, this is a very economical way to travel!

I'm intrigued by this. How did you get a free car? And what does it run on, fresh air? Road tax, insurance....?

I can see how it's economical though! :rotfl:

    I think you're right.

So why are you then so keen on your children going to uni ?
Because, unfortunately, the choices after schools look limited, and it seems that a lot of job adverts (even for dismally paying jobs) have a degree as a pre-requisite... looking for graduates, etc. And you never know, they might choose wisely and end up studying something useful!?
