  • Good morning all,

I went to work yesterday and I was updated throughout the day from my family on how my gran was getting on and she unfortunately had a bad day. A poor nights sleep probably started the dominoes. The cardiologist visited and said that she needs 2 x stents fitted but they can only do the surgery once all other infections and bugs have cleared.

I visited her around 7pm last night and by that point it was just her and I and we were able to chat for a bit. During which she told me that she was 'ready to go' as she believes she'll be going to heaven to be reunited with family and friends. I held back the tears until I left the room. She'd had a big day and a lot to take in so i wanted her well rested. While there's hope and the potential that everything goes well, it's a heartbreaking situation.

Tonight I'll be working late for a bit and then seeing TGFW for the first time in ages. I feel bad that I've not seen her in a while plus, with me potentially leaving to Manchester, I would like to see her and make the most of the time we have left - that's assuming I'm set on leaving which is a whole other issue.

I started looking at flats to rent around the £500p/m mark. For that sort of money I'm getting something very small, 1 bed or studio. I've no idea about the area and where is nice, or more importantly where to stay clear of, so I'll need to rely on the advice of my potential future employers.

So a busy weekend ahead and I'm not sure how it will all pan out. Fingers crossed.

Thank you all for your well wishes too :)

    Holly - I hope you're doing ok.
nmlc - Thoughts with your family just now with so much going on.
  • Morning all

Thanks for the thread Dumpling and hugs to all those in need.
I've done the school run and now I'm back home. DD2 is back from Hanover, she had a good time and now has the weekend to recover!

CHS's shifts have been changed et again, roll on when he retires I'm sick and tired of all the crap they keep throwing at him.

    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester
    Chin up, Titus out.
  • Morning (((((((((( hugs)))))))))) if you need one.

    Thoughts with the TA's.

Red Ruby sorry to hear about your friend, a brain aneurysm is what my son died of. Two burst in the night and he never woke up. Although we miss him so much, he would have been 48 last Tuesday, we are thankful that he died peacefully, had he survived he could well have been disabled, which would not have been easy, he was such an active chap.

It's warm again this morning, the heating is off, I have set the fire for later this afternoon, it chills down quite quickly once the sun goes down. I turn the sitting room rad off and then turn it up when we go to bed so it just takes the chill off when we get up.

Usual fish and chips tonight. I have to set my stall out and bake a carrot cake for Sunday.
  • Speky I hope that your gran has a better day today.

Speky, TA, Nanny, Poppy, Holly, LW, taff, silver (i'm sure I've missed someone who will probably come to mind later), I hope you all have as good a day as you can.

Speky, I'm sure someone hear will be able to tell you if an area is ok or not. I don't know Manchester that well but there are a couple of areas I wouldn't want to live in.

Redruby, that brought back memories. As a child I was very prone to tonsillitis (had them removed at 11) and mum used to make me egg custards to eat.

Still not much going on here. Does anyone else's husband do half a job when they empty the dishwasher. So many times I find that Steve has emptied the thing and left things out on the worktop. He left the best crockery on the kitchen table instead of putting it in the sideboard in the dining room. This was Sunday and I determined not to say anything but leave it to see if he moved it. I cracked this morning and pointed out it was still there and he laughed in a very shamefaced way and put it away. It took seconds and I know I could have done it myself but it's the principle of the thing.
  • I don't have a dishwasher! Sure we'd have tge same problem if we did though. My OH does more washing up than me, and rarely puts it away. I do the cleaning.

Snoozer, my OH was looking for some indigestion tablets last night. I told him they were in the bathroom cabinet. He looked, didn't find them. I went in there, moved a bottle, there they were.
It's a bloke thing because they can't be bothered and we are the goddesses of knowledge and location of household goods.

  • Have kicked my own backside - two loads of laundry done and out on the line ............... including the nightie and dressing gown that I was wearing earlier ;)!

Now have a completely empty laundry bin  :j.

Hello everyone, I lost a post this morning and didn't have time to do it all again before heading out to sewing group. Definitely making progress with the tapestry, but still a fair bit of background still to do and it'll be interesting to see if I have enough yarn. The company whose kit it is, is still in business and the design is available, so if needed I can ask for more.

Yesterday was quiet after a swim mid morning. I pottered online and in the kitchen, looking for the best way to cook a spaghetti squash which came in my veg box this week. In the end, I cut it into slices, salted it to reduce the water content, rinsed it and baked it in the oven with cinnamon, smoked paprika and drizzles of olive oil. I had some of it stir fried with almond butter, kale and soy sauce and enjoyed it :) Plenty in the fridge, apparently it keeps for a week so will be the base of a few meals.

Spekky, I'm glad you had that time with your dear grandmother, and hope that she has a better day today. Hugs to everyone who needs one, or more than one. Lots of challenges in many people's lives just now.

There's a lovely blue sky here, and the wind has died down. Once my lunch has settled, I'll be getting on with some tasks then heading out for a swim.

Take care of you, whatever your situation. Creating some calm and taking time to rest and refresh amidst the buffetings of life is absolutely vital. xxx
