Did you think that you were going to be made to fit more door closers?
They already have, each bedroom has them as well as lounge and dining room downstairs. The owners say the council made it a requirement so sounds like the BR people round here aint caught up with the rest of the country yet...conversion was only finished 2 weeks ago and we're expecting the inspector today.

It sounds like it could be a local regulation. I could understand landlords fitting them in order to protect their own property in the event of a fire.
Thy can't do anything to stop you propping them open as it isn't a HMO. But please close them at night, it could save your lives.0 -

Aww thanks:j
Being serious though, it is very upsetting when we attend fatal fires, when we can clearly see that if they had taken just a few simple precautions they would probably still be alive today.0 -

If it's a 3 storey rented property with unrelated people living there then it's a HMO and will require lots of fire doors. It will also need an alarm with detectors in almost every room, emergency lighting, etc.
If you and your family living there it's not a HMO and doesn't need a load of fire doors, etc.0
