Thank you SO much OP  Our new laptop came today... not even out of its box yet! It took my dh 2 lots of 20 mins on the phone to get it... first woman refused to give more than a discount on a phone package so dh told her he'd talk to me about it. The next day he rang back and asked for the mac code... the guy immediately offered him the laptop and couldn't understand why the woman hadn't done so the day before!!!
Thanks again “A journey is best measured in friends, not in miles.”

Can anyone point me in the direction of a thread on AOL free laptop (can't find in search).
I've been with AOL for 5 years and currently paying £9.99 last couple of years. Would I have any chance of getting a free laptop out of them and staying on same package if I asked for my MAC code to move to BT?~Laugh and the world laughs with you, weep and you weep alone.~:)

Well i've been with AOL for about 7-8 years paying £24.99 a month, if asked for the MAC code to leave for BT would i be offered a laptop to stay?
Cheers0 -
tried this yesterday as i am out of contract with BT, but all they gave me was a MAC code and nothing else0

None of these "free" offers are charity, you are paying for them in the end. i.e. the difference between the £10 deal you are on, and the £20 deal with the laptop.

Asking for a mac code for BT would be a very expensive move if you are only paying £9.99 currently.
Didn't think so. I've no intention of moving or paying more than my £9.99 per month. Just fancied trying my arm at a free lap top.
To get the £10 per month deal I just rang and said I was unhappy they were offering new customers a cheaper deal than me (I was paying £17.99 per month at the time) and I wanted cheaper. They offered me £10 per month for life straight away. Told my sister to ring and they only offered her £15 per month so I made her ring back, twice:p till she got the £10 too!!~Laugh and the world laughs with you, weep and you weep alone.~:)

Perhaps you could try ringing again andysams... the first woman my dh spoke to was adament we couldn't get a laptop (despite 20 mins of discussion and going away to talk to her supervisor) and yet the following day a different rep said yes straight away. If you look at poppy's post re her sister ringing for an AOL deal, she had a similar experience... being offered £15 the first time and then £10 second go!“A journey is best measured in friends, not in miles.”

Phoned up Bt today asking for my mac code and was asked why i wanted it. I replied i had seen a better offer elsewhere.
I got a free upgrade to bt totak broadband option 3 (previously on the olb broadband option 2) and they also reduced the price to £18.99 (was paying £25) for 12 months on a 12 month contract.0
