  • Hi Albertross,
was a wee bit worried you might think I was trying to be a Smarta_s but honestly I'm not and I meant what I said if you can get me cheaper then I will stand you a few pints (virtual OK?)
Ok at the moment we have free evening and weekend calls, OH phoned them after receiving a letter approx 2 years which stated "you are 1 of the few customers which regularly downloads in excess of 100gb per month and we will adjust future bills accordingly" to cut a long story short after threatening to leave them they gave us 6 months half price package and assured us that they would not limit/charge us for future excessive downloads. To this date they have never quibbled nor more importantly billed us and our downloads are still in excess of 100gb per month.
Our postcode is AB44 however when you actually try to sign up with any of the other companies (Orange/AOL)they all seem to add a £10 surcharge on to all of their advertised packages
    Any help is much appreciated

if you can have AOL its most likely you can have the Tiscali £5.50 a month or any of the other £5 broadband offers. (you also pay the line rental to them)

    Hi
Would you mind explaining this to me please? Its the "pay the line rental to them" I don't get. Plus, will I need a credit check (which I would fail spectacularly :) ) if I change to another provider?

I am currently with Virgin Media for everything but find their minimum £18.99 BB hard to manage. I would need to have a BT line installed I assume? Do they charge for you going back to them?
Sorry for so many questions I don't want to change without knowing all facts so I can make the right decision.
    Thanks.
    Stop looking for answers....
The most you can hope for are clues.....:)
  • I just rang again.
I was offered Acer ex4220 and free router and free BT Vision box, but I had to upgrade to option 3 for £24.99 a month. I am only paying £12.99 a month for option 1 which more than suits my needs, I also already have Sky plus so not bothered about BT vision. Worht a try though and thanks for the post op.
