Block Paving Base

Hi,
First post here
I am planning on getting my driveway redone in block paving, I've had 5 quotes so far.
3 companies said they lay on solid concrete from a cement mixer and they said that is the best base possible, the other 2 companies said they use an MOT type 1 sub base which is much better than solid concrete.
Now I know absolutely nothing about driveways, I would like my new driveway to last as long as possible without sinking, can anyone shed any light on which base to go for?
Cheers

Ours is on MOT - done 8 years ago and has lasted pretty well, no dips or movement. Go and have a look at some of the work the contractors have done for other people and see what they say.

Best possible? Who for them? It's likely to be more expensive and not really necessary for residential drives. You might consider a concrete sub base if your sub layers are boggy for example. The other thing to check on concrete bases is how they will drain it, which is essential with concrete sub bases.0

If you have weeds the grouting has been skimped on.0 -
Thanks, seems like MOT type 1 base will be fine, I'll go with that company thanks0

MOT type then 30-40mm of sharp sand. Type 1 should be deep enough so not to worry about movement later. The depth of the type 1 will depend on what type of soil you have. 150mm should be about the minimum but depends on what your parking too.0
