Money Claims online- Help

I've received a letter from money claims online regarding a parking ticket I received from vehicle control services. I was ten minutes late getting back to my car and had a ticket for £60. Following advice on these forums I had ignored all the threatening letters but now received the latest court claim. It was issued on the 25 Sept 18. The POC states that the claim is for £160 being monies due in respect of a charge notice for a contravention on 6 Dec 17. They are seeking recovery of the CN and interest under section 69 of the county court act 1984. Total now £ 185 including £25 court costs. Has anyone been at this stage and what did you do. Is it worth me paying now and cutting my losses or do I appeal and hope they don't go to court. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Does the Pope have a balcony? Have a read of some of the other 240,000 threads on this forum involving court cases. Is it worth me paying now and cutting my losses or do I appeal and hope they don't go to court. .
The time for appealing has long gone. Your options are to pay, or to defend. Read post #2 of the Newbies thread for an explanation of the process.
As for hoping, I was hoping to win the Euromillions last night, but was only seven numbers out.
I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.0 -
They can't claim £160 that will include debt collectors fees which have not been paid as they are on a no win no fee contract, and have handed it all back to the scamming PPC.
They can only claim the contractual fee on the signage, and PCN.
Follow Bargepole's advice he knows his onions!0 -

Not sure why you are asking for advice without first reading the main sticky thread, before posting:
NEWBIES PLEASE READ THESE FAQS FIRST
The 2nd post of that sticky thread walks you through the entire gamut of court claim stages and I wrote a defence about a VCS 'CN' ('not a parking charge' scam) only last week and linked it there. Not sure why I bothered, if people just do not read it.
It's like Groundhog day on here...
Do the AOS online first to buy time - the sticky thread shows you how, in pictures.
Then draft a defence or copy & adapt the similar one in the NEWBIES thread.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Sorry but new to these sites and didn't find your page. I have now read it and it is helpful. I will complete the acknowledgement of service and then send in my defence around day 24. One question when I first got the notice I did appeal the claim on the basis I was held up in a job interview and that was why I was 10 mins over the time on my parking ticket so in affect have admitted I was the driver. I have read your different defences can you suggest which one would be the most appropriate. Thanks0

With a Claim Issue Date of 25th September, you have until 14th October to do the Acknowledgement of Service, but there is nothing to be gained by delaying it. To do the AoS, follow the guidance offered in a Dropbox link from post #2 of the NEWBIES FAQ sticky thread.
Having done the AoS, you then have until 4pm on Monday 29th October 2018 to file your Defence.
That's over three weeks away. Plenty of time to hone your Defence to perfection.
When you are happy with the content, your Defence should be filed via email as described here:
1) Print your Defence.
2) Sign it and date it.
3) Scan the signed document back in and save it as a pdf.
4) Send that pdf as an email attachment to CCBCAQ@Justice.gov.uk
5) Just put the claim number and the word Defence in the email title, and in the body of the email something like 'Please find my Defence attached'.
6) Log into MCOL after a few days to see if the Claim is marked "defended". If not chase the CCBC until it is.
7) Wait for your Directions Questionnaire and then re-read post #2 of the NEWBIES thread to find out exactly what to do with it.0 -
Thanks for advice that's very helpful. Would you have a steer on what line of defence to take. I was late by 10 minutes to get back to the car park and appealed so admitted I was driver. Cheers0

OK so search 'claimant defence admitted driver true' which should find you posts where people have written a defence with our help recently, where they've admitted they were the driver.
Perfectly normal and ALL OVER the forum!
The reason for the word 'true' in the keywords is to only find actual defences, not just posts talking about drivers. It's a word used at the end of court submissions.

Sorry I supposed we are just hardened to all this on here, but I just can't understand the logic of an appeal like that.
Why would anyone think that would be of any interest to a PPC or would make them give up their greedy scam!0 -
It is naive, but people don't realise the entire industry operates an 'outrageous scam'.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I have done as you have suggested and looked through the defences but am still struggling to put something together as I kind find anything appropriate. The difficulty is that I havnt kept any paperwork as threads said ignore and throw away. I paid for a parking ticket and was around 10 mins late back. Could you point me in the direction of any defence you have helped with under the same circumstances. The nearest I found was a post by risk on 17 August. Could I use this one and just take out the parts regarding the airport. Any help would be greatly appreciated.0
