Selling a mobile number

Hi everyone.
Has anyone ever sold their mobile phone number?
I have had the same number for 20 years and it's very memorable. However, I am looking at changing it due to malicious texts from a family member.
My contract is due up next month and I am looking at switching provider for a better deal.
How do I go about getting my memorable number put on PAYG?
Has anyone sold a number? Who do you sell it to?
Many thanks

First you need to transfer it to Payg.

You could ask your provider to transfer it when your current contract is up or you could ask for a PAC code which is a(Porting Authorisation Code)and give that to another provider on payg.

To sell just stick it on eBay thats what i did with a few numbers i had.

  • The number doesn't actually belong to you.

Why not just block the family member?

Thank you, I thought I might have to do something like this. My phone contract ends at the start of next month and I'll be leaving them after 20 years of loyalty.
I'm sad to see it go, it's a really good number, but it's time for a change.

    Were your numbers special too?

I have blocked them through my phone but noticed today that they sent a nasty message last month. The message goes into a sub folder which doesn't alert me. They could just use a different number to pester me on instead.
    Time for a change.

Whilst its normal for numbers to be sold on Ebay, they are generally unactivated and never been used and don't go for a lot.

You should take further action (legally) if they are continually harassing you.

You should just either lose the number or switch it to a PAYG SIM for you to keep hold off. If you have stuff like banking apps / banks etc all attached to this number you probably want access to it for a few months at least as you switch everything to new number.
