Parking firm deny I bought a ticket, but I have it right here

I did over stay by 9 minutes though. When I appealed they said they had no evidence that I bought a ticket on their database. I still have the physical ticket, with last 3 characters of my number plate on. Now received letter from "debt recovery plus ltd" demanding £150.

Advice please?!
Thanks in advance

  • Who is the PPC?

look up grace periods in the newbies thread, you are allowed 10 minutes on entry and 10 on exit plus you say you have the ticket, should be easily defended.

If you send them a copy of the ticket they will have that evidence. Then, if they persist they are on a hiding to nothing

This is an entirely unregulated industry which is scamming the public with inflated claims for minor breaches of contracts for alleged parking offences, aided and abetted by a handful of low-rent solicitors.

Parking Eye, CPM, Smart, and another company have already been named and shamed, as has Gladstones Solicitors, and BW Legal, (these two law firms take hundreds of these cases to court each year). They lose most of them, and have been reported to the regulatory authority by an M.P.
    for unprofessional conduct

Hospital car parks and residential complex tickets have been especially mentioned.

The problem has become so rampant that MPs have agreed to enact a Bill to regulate these scammers. Watch the video of the Second Reading in the House of Commons recently

and complain in the most robust terms to your MP. With a fair wind they will be out of business by Christmas.

They will say the T&C's require you to enter your full VRN and you didn't, however their very fallible system should not have issued you with an incomplete ticket. This is a scam and happens all the time!

Did the signs on the machine tell you to enter just the last three characters of your reg. no.?

If it asked for your full reg. and you only gave them the last three chars, then they will say that you did not comply with the terms agreed.

In other words, they are probably right that no-one has paid for a car with your car's reg.no. to park there.

This is a common way for these rogues to trip honest law abiding people up.

Which PPC? If they offered POPLA, why didn't you bother?

Please read the NEWBIES thread post #4 - you need no help re debt letters.
