Blue Badge and PIP

Options
Hi all, just after a bit of advice, i have been awarded a disabled bus pass and a blue badge from my local authority and have currently got a PIP claim awaiting a decision, would the fact i've been awarded the passes and badge improve my chances of a successful claim and would i be able to send them as new evidence?

Any advice would be great, thanks all.

Most likely not but there's no harm in trying. If you've already had a face 2 face assessment and just waiting the decision then it will be to late to send them.
  • I haven't had the assessment yet, just sent my 'how my disability affect you' form back and waiting to hear about an assessment.
  • The blue badge and bus pass would have no bearing on a PIP claim

My thoughts exactly, if they did then a lot of people would be using these as evidence for a PIP claim.

I don't think the blue badge itself would be evidence, but if you had to have an assessment by a physiotherapist in order to get it then the report from that might be.
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.
  • Thanks for your replies everyone.

Many Local Authorities implement exactly the same mobility requirements as PIP... often requiring assessment by their own specialists before issuing one.
They don't just dish them out easily upon request any more! (if they ever did).

So the issue of a BB may mean that the OP will get the required 8 points (or more) for mobility... If an official report of any such assessment / face to face interview can be obtained from the Authority then that is evidence that would probably prove useful to send.

It could allow PIP to the be done on the paper evidence alone, perhaps?

Paper based assessments are extremely rare. Having one of these based on someone claiming a blue badge... i highly doubt that.
