Old Style Daily Monday 1st October 2018

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Morning everyone
I had a good time at my brothers yesterday and we all went out for a lovely Sunday lunch at a local pub we all like. I think they are trying to feed me up because my sister in law also did an ‘afternoon tea’ for us all. I think it was because they know that is something that I enjoy, and to be honest, I did still find room for it, in particular the patisseries and scones and cream. I did eat some sandwiches, honest.
Some of you have mentioned that I have a positive attitude to going into a psychiatric hospital in comparison to my admission earlier this year. I think it is because last time, I was Sectioned, and not even offered voluntary admission. Also I didn’t think it was necessary. This time I know that I need to be there for my own safety. Emotionally I am all over the place right now, and know that I’m not coping and becoming increasingly depressed so it is the best place for me to be leading up to the surgery.
Anyhow, today I will try and get everything packed, and I am going to put labels on some things for my brother in case I need him to collect things for me. He did say yesterday that he is going to find it difficult to visit me though because he is working until 7 or 8 at night and Saturdays. Last time I was in he only managed to visit twice because of work.
I’m meeting a friend for a coffee this afternoon, and she has suggested that we go out for dinner somewhere this evening, so we will probably do that. Not very MSE I know, but it saves cooking.
Olliebeak I think there must have been a misunderstanding. I’m not necessarily going into hospital tomorrow. It will hopefully be one day next week when a bed becomes available at the local unit, but this won’t be for a couple of days.
TA I am so pleased that you and Bob reached your wedding anniversary, belated congratulations. I am pleased that they are managing to keep the pain under control for Bob, and I you are all in my thoughts.
I so agree with what you said in your post yesterday about making the most of every minute. Since my diagnosis I have realised that time is precious and that I should make the most of every minute. I know it sounds corny but my outlook has really changed. What you say about not knowing what life will throw at you is so true, everything can change in the blink of eye..
Silver-oldie I’m sorry that you are feeling sad and down but you have nothing to feel guilty about. You did what you thought was best at the time, and that is what we all would have done and all any of us can do at any given time.
Lainey I hope that your knee is starting to improve.
Redruby I’m glad that the fridge is sorted now and that the replacement is working ok.
Congratulations dp1.
Have the best day you can everyone0 -

Morning! Thank you for the thread Hollyharvey.
I continue to be plsn-free, or clueless as some might say, though I do have jobs to do. Most of them aren't time-sensitive so if I feel like doing them I will, otherwise they can be left until I feel better.
Happy anniversary for yesterday Mrs SD and congratulations dp1.
TA I am thinking of you and Bob, sending as many good thoughts as I can muster. I also have our other poorlies or worried people in my mind.
Hope everyone has as good a day as possible.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning all
Dont know what woke me but 4.30 came and i was wide awake . DW has been emptied and will do the WM in a minute just having a cuppa ,its chilly this morning but no heating yet . Got loads done at the weekend as the house is empty next door we painted all the fences their side and the wall of our extension had a chat with the lady who owns it and she is looking for new renters so fingers crossed we get someone nice we haven't been lucky so far .

Morning everyone
hollyharvey - thanks for starting us off x
TA's - thinking of you all x
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly, as he wants to go for a run before brekkie, then he'll eat and catch a lift with me to go to the gym.
Lunch yesterday was roast chicken, roasties, mash, carrots, cauli/broc cheese, green beans, peas, yorkshires, stuffing and gravy, was delicious. Tonight will be an easy fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg.
Holiday was lovely, just goes way to quick, weather was a bit changeable but it didn't stop us doing anything, we had plenty of sunshine, but also wind and rain, but there were 2 places we wanted to visit and we did both, and more besides, lots of r&r too. Now back to the normal routine - whatever that is!
I have kept my eating under reasonable control, but have drank a lot of wine, so now back to eating/drinking more sensibly - will get weighed tomorrow night and get going with it - I have put some weight back on but I now have a clear build up to the dreaded C word so will give it a good shot at being at target by then, also DH and myself have decided to do sober for october, not officially but think it will be good for us both - I'm hoping it'll show on the scales for me, even if it's only a little, it certainly will show financially as everything is so expensive nowadays!
Back to work today, so not sure what I'm going back too, I know one of my colleagues is now on annual leave but is away for 4 weeks so we're definitely 1 person down. Hoping to be busy, makes the day pass quicker.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning chums and a new month already, I am up with the birds this morning as I want to get my first shop of the month done and be back indoors by 9ish as I have my oldest friend coming down from Dartford for the day.I cooked a piece of gammon from the freezer in my slow cooker yesterday, so we will have that for lunch with some salad.
DGS Ben is hoping to hear from the company today that he had his second interview with last Friday,he was in the batch of ten, whittled down from 30 odd, so fingers crossed.

Morning all
Lovely day here by the looks of it but very chilly im sat with a blanket wrapped over me, heating will have to go on soon for an hour in the morning.
Of to work today and Monday clients are a nice bunch and only one very loud chap so not a bad start to the week.
We have yesterdays roast tonight already plated in the fridge so that will just need heating up tonight and the gravy warming and put on top, a really easy but lovely dinner :j
Had some washing on the airer in the lounge overnight, it has nearly dried with the log burner being on so will blast it for 5 mins in the td tonight and that can be folded and put away.
Love and thoughts to the TA's glad yesterday was a lovely day for you all xxx
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning
Sky looks hopeful this morning. Managed to get a bit more sleep last night after doing some bits of work yesterday that were praying on my mind.
Managed to book some more activities for my week off later this month when my pen friend of 40 years pitches up from Canada with her friend. Its going to be a full on week but so much fun too. Was a bit worried about the cost building up but its still lots cheaper than a holiday abroad so I'm over it. One thing I have realised is what an amazing country England is with so many things to do ...still have a big list of possibilities but unless they stay for a month I need to be selective
Back to reality today I have a conference call at 9 then designing a new course for next week.
Food wise I had my number one comfort food last night ...Heinz Tomato soup with ham and cheese rolls (Tomato soup is one thing I cant stand home made but in a tin its my kinda heaven) Today i will finish the tin off and mop up the lamb tandoori left from Sat in a pitta.
Have a great monday all and love to TAs0 -
Morning All
So glad you had a good day TAs, Happy Anniversary.
Nelski, I don't like the tinned variety of tomato soup but love home made!
I got back from The Netherlands late last night, had a fantastic time. We went for a lovely meal on Friday night when I arrived then to the beach on Saturday as it was so warm. There was a kite festival on, then a wander around the city. Yesterday DS hired a boat in Leiden and we cruised around the canals for a couple of hours, his GFs Mum joined us and we had lunch outside. Back to their flat for an hour or so before I had to come back. Really lucky with the weather.
Back to reality this morning with work and hopefully Yoga if I can stay awake long enough!
Hope you've all had a good weekend and enjoy this week ahead. Take care. XX0 -
