Lost POPLA appeal - only just found this thread

Hi guys, I can't believe I've only just found this message board.
I had a PCN from UK Parking Control as I was parked over the line in the space. I have to admit this is my own fault; I was on my own with two children (aged 1 and 2) so needed access to both sides of the car. So, I parked over in a corner just over the line of the space. I've been caught out too many times before with the kids when someone parks beside me then I haven't got enough room to get them into the car seats.
Anyway, I appealed first off which was rejected, then also lost my Popla appeal. My question now is because I haven't used the process suggested here, is there anything I can do other than just pay the £100?
I can't risk debt collectors or court as we need to remortgage in the near future and don't want to risk my credit rating.
Thanks

its not debt collectors that damage your credit rating, its ignoring a court order if the PPC takes you to court, you lose, then you dont pay the CCJ within one month
your choices are to either pay in full now, or if the PPC try court then pay up IN FULL if you lose in court
the PPC has 6 years to try a court case0 -
Just ignore anything that comes your way, other than a Letter Before Claim/Action or real court papers. Come back on this thread for further guidance if you get either. UKPC are generally only interested in multiple tickets, not one-offs!
Before worrying about this urban myth nonsense, just do some basic research. Google is free and available to anyone with a computer.I can't risk debt collectors or court as we need to remortgage in the near future and don't want to risk my credit rating.
When you've read the following links, come back and detail your concerns relating to CCJ, debt beggars, credit ratings, mortgages and the like! Amaze us!

https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5849106Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

Yes you can.I can't risk debt collectors or court as we need to remortgage in the near future and don't want to risk my credit rating.
We don't put anyone at risk of a CCJ. Your credit rating is not affected if you follow our advice on how to defend a claim, if they try.
Certainly DO NOT pay UKPC. The only reason to contact them now will be if you move house as you need to be sure you get all letters for 6 years.
Come back at claim stage and stop thinking:
- that you can 'just get' a CCJ
- that your credit rating will be affected
- that debt collectors are bailiffs who come knocking
- that court is a risk
- that defending a scam claim risks huge fees or other repercussions.
To all of the above, the answer is 'no'. We do not put people at any risk.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Lucky for you ..... you found us
Were there no spaces for parents with kids ????
You really don't want to pay a scammer do you ...... UKPC
are one of the worst but it goes deeper because UKPC
are fraudsters as they were caught faking pictures ??? YES ?
Worst of all is they are approved by the BPA ,,,,
BRITISH PARKING ASSOCIATION ???
They belong to the BPA to get info from DVLA.
POPLA was set up by the BPA and have proved themselves
to be useless ...... just the same as the BPA are useless
Your fear of a CCJ is understandable but these are the facts
HOW YOU CAN GET A CCJ (County Court Judgement)
1: They must firstly take you to court
2: You have the opportunity to defend
3: A judge will rule who is the winner
4: If you lose (doubtful), the judge will make
an order for you to pay (normally with 28 days)
5: If you ignore the court and do not pay, then
you will get a CCJ
6: However if you do pay as the court orders,
that is it ...... NO CCJ .. NO ENTRIES ON YOUR
CREDIT FILE
DANGER POINT .... If you ignore official claims from
Northampton ... A county court claim, DO NOT IGNORE
The courts are fully aware of scamming parking firms
like UKPC ... your chances of winning is far better than
the scammers especially with the help of this forum.
It's par for the course that the scammers pass it to
debt collectors but they are complete powerless idiots
so read this ....
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5859454/debt-collectors-drp-zzps-what-they-dont-want-you-to-know&highlight=debt+collectors+drp
Where did this happen .... was it a supermarket, who
was it ....... tell us as we normalLy say to go straight
to the CEO and get it cancelled especially as you have
kids in the car
Don't pay UKPC, nobody must finance scammers
Just because POPLA did not agree with you just shows
that POPLA do not understand and that is because
they have become useless ... a product of the BPA0 -
Forgot to add - no there weren't any spaces for family parking at the retail park. The retail park has shops such as The Range, Pizza Hut, Staples, Oak Furniture Land.
I said in my appeal that there aren't any parent parking spaces at the site, but their response was that they don't allocate spaces!0 -

Is that right, a car park that does not facilitate families ???
So who did you shop with ?0 -
I went into The Range. I did make some purchases, but didn't save the receipt.0

Debit card - just checked and the transactions are on my account history.0

so .... as well as following all the good advice that are, / will get ....
"is there anything I can do other than just pay the £100?"
please watch read some of the below and try to get you MP onboard ....

and slightly longer, the committee stage
https://www.parliamentlive.tv/Event/Index/d5550515-cce9-4185-83ec-754dadb7524a
''Rip-offs from car park Cowboys must stop''; unfair treatment; signage deliberately confusing to ensure a PCN is issued; ''years of abuse by rogue parking companies''; bloodsuckers; ''the current system of regulation is hopeless, like putting Dracula in charge of the blood-bank''; extortionate fines; rogue operators; ''sense of injustice''; unfair charges and notices; wilfully misleading; signage is a deliberate act to deceive or mislead; ''confusing signs are often deliberate, to trap innocent drivers''; unreasonable; a curse; harassing; operating in a disgusting way; appeals service is no guarantee of a fair hearing; loathed; outrageous scam; dodgy practice; outrageous abuse; unscrupulous practices; ''the British Parking Association is as much use as a multi-storey car park in the Gobi desert''; and finally, by way of unanimous conclusion: ''we need to crack down on these rogue companies. They are an absolute disgrace to this country. Ordinary motorists and ordinary residents should not have to put up with this''.
These are the exact words used, so you should quote them to your MP in a complaint and ask him/her to contact Sir Greg Knight MP if he wants further information about this scam.
and some quotes from the committe stage
"The other area is hospital parking, and I want to single out one company for some pretty shady practices. That is ParkingEye"
" is very clear to me that there is collusion between parking companies and solicitors’ firms—so-called roboclaims companies. "
"They are often set up adjacently and involve the same directors and personnel. Incidentally, the same personnel get involved in the so-called appeals bodies."
"Essentially, it is a money-making enterprise that takes advantage of motorists up and down the country. They operate in a very business-like fashion, which is why I call them roboclaims companies."
"The companies are jamming up parts of our legal system."
“I now pretty much know exactly how the parking companies and in particular the IPC have been running this scam for the past 5 years. Basically both of the appeals processes are a complete and utter sham, (and part of that sham is Gladstones Solicitors itself)”
"The appeals process at Excel/VCS is run by a team of minimum wage office workers with no legal knowledge or experience whatsoever,"
" It is claimed by the head of the appeals service (retired Judge Bryn Holloway) that this is a completely independent fair process, it is not”
"The letter mentions two individuals—Will Hurley and Bryn Holloway—and concludes this is a typical example of the clear collusion between the IPC, their members and the IAS"
"what we can do about roboclaims companies and solicitors firms that profit, often in shady ways"
" the very large amounts of money that can be involved in such scams—a company called Smart Parking was involved in one such scam on my patch"
"tightening up the rules regarding the unfair use of automatic number plate recognition" "BW Legal, regularly issues 10,000 county court judgments a month, and is known to have issued 28,000 in one month"
"They are jamming up our court system, and are often totally unjustified."
" because the lifeblood of trying to extort money from people is having access to their details."
All from Parking (Code of Practice) Bill (First sitting) Hansard
good luck
