I need 8 AA batteries for a radio control transmitter and have always used Duracell up until now
7dayshop have always been cheapest - but at the moment are out of stock of many options
They have free delivery on most batteries
Are the Duracell industrial going to last as long as power plus Duracell ?
They are roughly half the cost
What about 7dayshop own brand alkaline batteries ?
or Panasonic or Energizer lithium ?
Any other suppliers, recommended, who offer a similar service to 7dayshop ?

I have had cheapies in the past and they leaked
  • You must have been unlucky or possibly careless. I only use cheap alkalines and have never had one leak.

Wouldn't your transmitter take a pack of rechargeable batteries? My old Futaba transmitter, that I used when flying slope soarers, had a pack of cells connected up and held together with heat shrink wrap. e.g.

Also bought the bulk pundshop ones in both 1.5AA and pp3 formats. The pp3 were for smoke alarms and lasted 3 months. the AA in a clock lasted between 3-5 weeks.

Bought the branded AA from poundshop, think KODAK, and they work faultless, got a year out of the clock on AA

    Possibly - but the 8 1.5v cells gives 12v
Whereas 8 1.2v cells only gives 9.6v - maybe not enough to power the tx

Hmmm. OK, what does your manual say?

I can't believe a radio control transmitter accepts only non-rechargeable batteries. Back in my flying days, they all took rechargeables.

What make and model is it, out of interest?

Yes the zinc carbon ones are useless. Go for the alkaline ones which are currently branded Kodak but have been Polaroid amongst others in the past. The ones in Home Bargain are JCB branded iirc and they are ok too.

I agree that rechargeables should work although I stopped using them myself as I don't currently have anything that would benefit from using them - anything that might have uses Li-ion ones. Years back there were cameras which only worked for a very short time on rechargeables before declaring them flat.

These are hard to beat ensure you type in 07 at the endo f the code to get bulk discount code.
It is the battery capacity you need to look at to compare the options.
These ones are very good at 2.5ah. GP batteries are 2.2aH as an example.
Free delivery over £8 so advise doing the same with the AAAs

The Aerowhatever from Lidl outperformed Duracell, Energiser, etc in a test of RC cars...good value too at £2 for 8-pack :)
