Hi,

My hob cutout is 69cm x 50cm, What is the size of gas hob that I should be looking at? I was going to go with https://www.johnlewis.com/neff-t25s56n0gb-gas-hob-stainless-steel/p231029021

Dimensions H4.3 x W70.2 x D52cm
but looking at the size, it will just about not fall into the cutout...

Anyone got any advice?

yep, just saw that, so the actual hob will have an overlap of 0.6cm on each side, that doesnt sound a good thing..

You'll have to check each hob for the required aperture. They really aren't all the same.

You could go with a larger hob, of course. Would give you more options if you can cut more worktop out.

I expect that size goes with a 75cm width hob?

  • Hi,

what have you got in hole just now?

You could maybe build up inside of hole.
  • we have a induction hob at the mo, we have just bought the property, but not a fan on induction hobs...

Really? They're as responsive as gas and much easier to clean. :)

Maybe give it a bit of time to get used to it and save the money!

    Plus 1.

Give it some time to get used to. It is clean, efficient and responsive.
  • Another +1 - if I moved I'd be looking to have any hob that was in the new house replaced with an induction hob.

Love my induction hob - Much easier to clean than gas and the active surface stays cold until a pan is put on. Take the pan off, and the heating zone automatically shuts off. Can also put a sheet of kitchen paper between the glass & pan if there is any concerns about damaging the hob.

Downside to induction - Only steel or cast iron bottomed pans can be used, so no aluminium, copper, or glass cookware. At low settings, my hob "pulses", which might not be good for something that needs a gentle simmer.

OP - You could fit a gas hob, but you'd either need to but some thin strips of timber round the edge of the hole to make it smaller or fit a larger hob. The alternative is to replace the worktop. If you go for a wider hob, you'd also want to think about changing the extractor hood (if fitted). If you don't already have gas piped to the kitchen, then there will be additional costs involved.

  • In addition to what others have said there are rules with a gas hob with regard to how far it is away from combustible surfaces both side & back & distances above plus the requirement of an openable door or window to outside, so you really need to get the installation instructions for the hob which will give you all these distances plus tell you the cut out size for the worktop
I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.
