If you had a refund as you say in your OP you would have had to do all that anyway as he had no shoes after being refunded so non of that is the stores issue or anything to do with customer care.0 -
Wow I've got a 4 year old myself. As someone else mentioned, if the shoes are faulty why would they wear them to the shop?
If they are truly their only pair of shoes surely several pairs from Primark would be more sensible then 1 pair for £36. My little fella is always jumping into muddy puddles as soon as my back is turned, no way would I trust him to have a single pair of shoes.0 -
The store acknowledged that the shoe was faulty...and the manager gave you a full refund....sounds to me like a success!
With autumn well under way now (at least in this part of the country!) and winter on its way, I would strongly urge you to consider getting two pairs of shoes...kiddies love to splash in puddles and ALWAYS find the muddiest of spots in which to stomp too...always a good idea to have a spare pair.
Oh, and I have certainly known a number of places where the staff loo is NOT available to customers.0 -

I had to leave the shop with him with, no shoes on his feet and carry him to public toilets where he had to stand in a cubicle again with no shoes on. Customer care at its best!
So you only took the faulty pair of shoes with you and not another pair he could wear when you left the shop.0 -
I had a similar issue with a pair of kids shoes, and they offered me similar shoes in the same size and I thought that was only fair. Otherwise people could abuse this by returning worn shoes repeatedly for the next size up when the child outgrows them0

1. Why did he not walk to the shop in different shoes?
2. Why did you not use your refund to buy him some more shoes?
3. Why is it Clarks fault your child had no shoes to go to the loo in?
Seriously I really do want to know why you are blaming them for him having no shoes...0 -
Can't quote on my mobile, but never in a million years would I put a small child in cheap plastic shoes from Primark. Leather moulds to the foot, whereas plastic doesn't.There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0

What they are saying here is false but you might need to capture evidence of this. You should certainly email Clarks customer service and lodge your complaint and appeal for a refund/replacementshell820810 wrote: »Can I have your thoughts please;
I bought a pair of child's Clark's shoes for £36 3 months ago. The strap has worn so that it is about to break, but the shoes are in good condition otherwise, so there hasn't been any extreme wear and tear..
I took it back to the retailer who tried to argue that they would only refund or replace if the child was measuring the same size. Basically they argue that because a child of that age (3) will need to change sizes every 3-4 months, the shoe only needs to last that length.
Surely a shoe of that cost has to made to a reasonable standard to last more than 3 months, perhaps to pass to a sibling etc (which of course they don't recommend).
I did get a full refund, but I thought the attitude of the manager was appalling. (Independent retailer, not Clark's). Would like to make a written complaint but want to get others opinions.If I ruled the world.......0 -
